Clearance Price Tag Guide (Every Store is Different)

I love to shop clearance, but the prices can be deceptive—sure, it’s on sale, however, it could go even lower. Of course, the stores do this intentionally to confuse us, and not everyone knows that each store has a different code to indicate their best price. Once you learn how to read the tags, you’ll always know if it’s a good deal.

Walmart: Any tag ending with $.00.

Costco: Any tag ending with $.00 or $.97.

JC Penny: Any tag ending with $.97.

Target: Any tag ending with $.08 or $.04.

Gap: Any tag ending with $.97.

American Eagle: Any tag ending with $.00 or $.99.

Sam’s Club: Any tag ending with $.01 or $.31.

PetSmart: Any tag ending with $.07 or $.37.

BJ’s Wholesale: Any tag ending with $.00.

Land’s End: Any tag ending with $0.99.

Home Depot: Look for anything with a yellow tag. It will usually end in an $.06 or an $.03.

Office Depot: Any tag ending with $.04.

If you know of any additional codes, please add them to the list.

I shop Costco the most and love when things are discounted. I stock up on lego or games as birthday presents for the kids friends or to donate to school fundraiser bingo event.
