Hijab-Wearing Model Fired by L’Oreal for Anti-Semitism

A controversial hijab-wearing blogger and model from the UK was hired—and now fired—by L’Oreal from an upcoming campaign.

Amena Khan, was forced to step down after vicious anti-Semitic tweets she made in 2014 surfaced. She now claims: “Championing diversity is one of my passions. I don’t discriminate against anyone.” (All lies!)

Her despicable views and pathetic apology aside, I find it incredibly odd that L’Oreal would feature someone wearing a head covering to sell hair care. The whole point of an ad is to showcase the product and hijabs make that impossible. You literally can’t see a single strand in the publicity picture above! Hiring her to represent their makeup line instead would’ve been too logical, I guess, even though the makeup is clearly visible.

I don’t know when this disconnection from reality first occurred, but it’s getting overwhelming. Europe has a huge problem on their hands with a radical Muslim minority trying force their will on the entire population. If someone wants to wear a hijab, that’s their right, but we shouldn’t pretend it’s normal behavior. There is nothing immodest or sinful about having beautiful hair and I refuse to cover mine.

Rather than pander, L’Oréal should use some common sense in the future. These types of publicity stunts always backfire.

What shocks me is that in this age of social media, no one bothered to vet her. Considering how easily those tweets were unearthed by others, you’d think someone on staff at L’Oreal could have found them too. Actually, what stuns me is that she didn’t scrub her own account in a timely fashion. Also, considering that that there is evidence of anti-Semitism in her account but no evidence of the transformation she claims to have undergone, I have to be somewhat (alright, rather) suspicious of her statement that she is not a bigot.

I also feel the apology was a complete joke. She’s not sorry, she’s sorry she got caught and fired! This woman appears to be extremely hateful and shouldn’t be working for a huge cosmetics company anywhere.

We can’t blame every Muslim for the Trade Center, that’s not fair. What is accurate to say is that a small amount of radical ones are very dangerous and intolerant towards the rest of us.

I don’t know sounds like a bunch of hog crap all the way around. Guess with the hiijab around its wrong for these woman to say hey even though we cover our hair, we could still have beautiful hair. Guess no of you see that. You may not be prejudice and for all other religions but your not!!!

I live in an area where a lot of women wear hijabs. In my experience, they keep to themselves so much that they will not even smile politely let alone socalize with us non-hijab wearers, so who is the racist?

Some of it is cultural and a language barrier, but many of them truly don’t want to mix by choice which is very sad! I will gladly talk to anyone and don’t understand why they’re so insular.
