March is Women’s History Month

While browsing through my Twitter feed today, this picture caught my eye. How awesome is it to see such diversity not only displayed, but celebrated! Race, religion, size, nor disability should ever make us feel less worthy. Every woman deserves to be heard and valued.

For much of history, we were marginalized and silenced. In the modern world, we still have barriers to break and limitations that hold us back, yet there is so much more freedom than was experienced generations ago. When my own Grandmother was born in 1916, women couldn’t even vote; 100 years later, a woman was nominated to run for President. That, my friends, is incredible progress!

As we celebrate—and hopefully study—Women’s History during the month of March, let’s focus on our accomplishments, rather than dwelling on inequality. Let’s encourage each other and our daughters to follow in the amazing footsteps of Golda Meir, Sandra Day O’Connor, Susan B. Anthony, Christa McAullife, Amelia Earhart, and countless other trailblazers who fought for women everywhere.

The picture is really great! I try to encourage my friends and family to show support for all women, it is especially important that women also build, support and encourage each other!

Absolutely, women have to support each other. I hate the stereotype that we’re all so catty. It’s not true and most of us really want to help each other succeed.

So true – we have to stand together and celebrate the accomplishments of all women. We have been overlooked for far too long.
