Super Savings Saturday – 3/21

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

I started the week off on a high note, with a free cone at Dairy Queen. The lines were long and the cones were small, but free is free, right? I love soft swirl!

There were many good freebies and cheapies to be found at the drugstores and a grocery store. My only strikeout was Target. I was in search of 5 different cartwheel deals and every single item was gone! I hate it when that happens, but such is life. Couponing is a marathon, not a sprint, and some deals just don’t work out.

Shaw’s:

2 Skippy peanut butter, on sale $1.99. I used 2 $0.50 Manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $0.99 each!

4 Barilla entrées, on sale $2.50. I used 4 $0.75 Manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $1.00 each!   (These make my stomach turn, but my guy loves them—go figure.)

CVS:

I stopped in on Thursday, looking for a one-day offer for free cotton balls. Even though it was only 10:00AM, the store was completely cleared out. That was disappointing, but the others deals made up for it.

2 Crest Pro-Health toothpastes, on sale $3.00. I used 2 $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $4.00, plus $4.00 ECB!

4 Starburst jelly beans, on sale $0.99, plus BOGO. I used a $2.00/3 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free!

Rite Aid:

Always liners, details here. Total: Free!

Ensure Active shakes, clearance price $4.15. I used a $2.00 Video Values coupon stacked with a $3.00 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free!

Did you find any freebies?

Awesome deal on the jelly beans! I have been hoping to find some; I have those coupons. I don’t try CVS deal here anymore; there is a woman who goes everyday for the deals and then resells them at her house 🙁 There are a few others who do that, too, via Facebook garage sales. I wish they didn’t; the store is always cleared out because of that. I am hoping Target will have a deal on them.

It is the same way here, with the shelf-clearing pros! There’s one gang that works my area and they have a booth at the flea market and make huge profits. I only buy for personal use or to donate and always obey limits! I hate when people abuse the system; it hurts all the normal couponers.
I looked everywhere for the jelly beans before I could find free ones. I saw the eggs at Target, but not the mini packs. Hope you can find them for Easter for your adorable kids. There were a huge hit at my house for Purim!

Sheetz (large gas station) was offering free 2 oz of cheese just for being a card member. My husband didn’t think it was worth the stop. Since I needed gas anyway – I made sure to tell him how good that cheese was in a toasted cheese sandwich 🙂
I used more coupons at the grocery store – normally I shop at Aldi, but I was in the area of this particular store and was able to get a half pound of deli sliced pepperoni for 50 cents, free 2 liter of store brand seltzer and a free 6 pack of Pepsi. After the check out, it printed a $3 off $3 coupon which my husband used to get 2 bags of potato chips for $1 out of pocket.
Thank you again for your site, using coupons is feeling a little more “natural”.

I love to see how confident you’re getting with using coupons. SO COOL! I would’ve stopped for the free cheese, too. I love grilled cheese sandwiches. My man doesn’t understand coupons either. There are a few male couponers, but it’s rare.
