Ever since my children were born, my husband and I have tried our best to read to them every night before bed. This ritual is a cherished bonding experience for our family. Not only are we instilling a love for learning and reading, we are sharing time together and building memories.

Teens Create Swastika Cupcakes

Who can refuse a cupcake? (Not many of us, right?) Now, imagine receiving one decorated with a Swastika! It’s hard to believe, but this actually happened to a 14-year-old birthday girl in Phoenix. To make matters worse, the perpetrators were “friends” of hers who’d been invited to the party and proudly uploaded their despicable creation to Snapchat.

Just looking at the cupcake makes me feel violently ill. It belongs in the trash since that’s what it is! While I probably wouldn’t have dealt with it the same way this mother chose to (Facebook rant), I am glad that the media picked the story up and that it’s gone viral.

Incidents like these need to be exposed. Yes, teens make mistakes and we’ll never know for sure what the motive was. Regardless, we have to teach youngsters that this type of hateful behavior is never okay!

In addition to the dogs, cats, and hermit crab that already live in my home, two new blessings recently joined us—baby kittens, called Snowball and Scamp! They came our way courtesy of a neighbor that’s moving across the country and couldn’t take them along. While I thought we already had plenty of pets, the kids had other ideas in mind. (I think they’d adopt 100 animals if allowed!) Initially, I said no, but after gazing into such angelic faces, I relented…

Currently, the kittens are only able to eat soft stuff. As they grow bigger, we’ll transition to dry food, but for now, it’s wet food. Because their tastes are still forming, I wasn’t sure which flavor they’d enjoy, so I selected Chicken, Salmon, and Turkey.

This pic is a good representation of their different personalities. Snowball dove right into the bowl, while Scamp looked on, a bit hesitant.

I bought lots of cans, so there was plenty in the kitchen. Still, I wondered if Scamp would get a bite before this hungry hippo finished every morsel!

Somehow, he worked up the nerve and pushed himself right in, and also began eating with gusto. These boys sure love BLUE Wilderness! I love knowing that I’m feeding them the best diet possible, ensuring they will grow healthy and strong and lead the active lifestyle they crave.
