Dreft #AmazingHood Giveaway & Review

a3

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Dreft. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review and compensation, but all opinions are 100% mine.

Ah, the joys of a new baby: love, cuddles, feeding, changing, and mountains of laundry! At my worst, I was washing 2-3 loads daily and I know many people who do even more. Babies just have a tendency to get everything messy. Couple tough stains with sensitive skin and not every detergent will work. That’s why I’m glad to have found Dreft.

Dreft welcomes families to the big, messy, beautiful journey of #Amazinghood with its new line of laundry care products.  Babies go through a lot of changes within their first few years, leading to different needs for different life stages.

Understanding that laundry needs for little ones change as they grow and develop, Dreft, the #1 baby laundry detergent choice of pediatricians and a trusted brand for over 80 years, has expanded its product line-up to better meet the different life-stage needs of babies and their families. Now with Dreft’s new line of laundry care products, families can focus less on the mess and more on the amazing moments they share together.

Whether parents want to swaddle their newborn in fabric washed in gentle, hypoallergenic Dreft Newborn detergent; gently tackle tough stains while developing babies explore their world with Dreft’s NEW hypoallergenic Active Baby formula; or experience that delicious, nostalgic baby scent with NEW Dreft Blissfulls scent-boosting beads – Dreft is there for every amazing step of the way.

Dreft Newborn (Stage One): Moms can wash their new little one’s fabrics with Dreft’s same beloved hypoallergenic formula, designed to be tough on stains and gentle on baby’s skin with the beloved Dreft baby scent.

NEW Dreft Active Baby (Stage Two): Specially designed with a growing, developing baby in mind, NEW Dreft Active Baby helps to remove 99% of baby food stains and other outdoor messes with a gentle, hypoallergenic formula and fresh scent.

Tortellini Alfredo – Perfect Dairy Dinner

a3

There are few recipes that are quicker to make—or more delicious to eat!—than Tortellini Alfredo. This is a great week night meal if you’re craving dairy. I love how it can be just two simple ingredients or customized with tons of extras.

Start with a bag or box of pasta and a jar of sauce. (If you want to make them from scratch, knock yourself out. I try to simply cooking if at all possible, since life is so chaotic anyway.)

From there, the possibilities are endless! Any of these mix-ins would be a good addition to Tortellini Alfredo:

* Broccoli   (my #1 pick)

* Olives    (try sliced black olives)

* Asparagus    (just the tips)

* Tuna     (use solid white albacore in water for this dish. Oil-packed is greasy.)

* Fresh basil    (great color and flavor)

* Extra cheeses    (almost any kind of cheese is excellent in this dish)

* String beans     (unexpected but wonderful)

* Mushrooms     (extra good with Portobello)

* Fresh Parsley     (for color)

* Garlic    (I like garlic in most anything)

* Cannellini beans   (can be used whole or pureed into the sauce)

* Peas    (for that retro feel)

* Toasted bread crumbs    (adds a nice crunch)

* Red chili flakes   (good for extra kick, but be careful not to overdo it)

* Artichoke hearts   (so tasty, rinse well in water if they seem briney)

* Roasted onion    (I love to use Vidalia)

* Corn     (fresh or frozen is perfect, great if you have leftovers)

Usually, I make mine with just broccoli. The last two, corn and onion, make for a very pretty plate. If you don’t like Alfredo, need to limit calories, or want to serve with a meat meal, substitute a lemon-based sauce instead.

Super Savings Saturday – 4/25/15

a3

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This week was full of many good deals and freebies, especially on high priced items like underwear and baking sheets. I don’t usually shop at the mall, but when I find coupons, it’s definitely worth it. The trick is to get in and out quickly, or I’m sidetracked by tons of other junk that I “need” to buy like a $6,000 fridge. (No, I didn’t buy it, but the salesman I talked to made me want one so badly!)

Sears:

Kenmore heavy duty baking sheet, sale price $10.99. I used a $10.00 Shop Your Way Rewards code, and used free in-store pick up. Total: $0.99!  (I order many things online, but this was my first time ordering online and picking up in person. While the price was awesome, I must say it was an annoying experience and took much longer than expected!)

Victoria’s Secret:

Pink panties, regular price $10.50. I used a Secret Rewards coupon given to me for a prior purchase. My coupon was worth $10.00, so I only paid $0.50!

Shaws:

4 P3 Protein packs, on sale $1.00 each. I used 2 $1.00/2 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.50 each!  (I find these come in very handy for snacks and lunchboxes.)

2 Marcal toilet papers, on sale $2.99. I used 2 $1.00 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $2.99 each!  (Not the softest product on the market, but it’s not bad for the price.)

1-lb package of carrots, marked down to $0.37!   (A single carrot had a spot and everything else was perfect.)

Target:

2 Seventh Generation dish soaps, details here. Total: $0.69 each!

2 Horizon cheese & crackers, regular price $3.49. I used a BOGO coupon stacked with 2 $1.00 Target coupons. Total: $0.75 each!  (A very hungry bear inhaled them both in the car before we even left the parking lot…)

I was planning to shop the drugstores as well, but then it was Friday before I knew it, and I ran out of time. (Ok, I could’ve stayed out later, but I raced home to watch the Bruce Jenner interview. All I can say about that is “WOW!” I may not understand what he’s going through, but I have so much compassion for his struggle.)
