Memorial Day Menu

a2

Many grocery stores are having huge sales for the holiday weekend. I’ll be basing my Memorial Day menu on the deals at Shaw’s. For less than $20.00, I can put together a cheap, delicious feast!

a3

Boneless chicken: $1.99/Lb. (I’ll be marinating in BBQ sauce. If you’re expecting a big crowd, do sliders instead of whole pieces.)

a1

Corn: 10 ears for $1.77.  (If you have extras, try making Santa Fe Chicken.)

a1

Watermelon: $4.44.  (Slice it or cut into chunks. Tons of fruit for little $)

a1

Coke products, 12-packs: 5 for $10.00.   (You don’t have to buy 5 for the sale price.)

a1

Hood ice cream: $1.99, with a $1.00/2 coupon.  (I’m getting the limited edition Boston Red Sox flavors)

I’ll also be making broccoli slaw from ingredients I have on hand. This is much more junk food than I normally eat, but I enjoy a treat occasionally.

If you live outside of New England and don’t have access to Shaw’s, search through your local flyers. Deals and prices vary, but each region has something good to offer!

What’s on your holiday menu?

Super Savings Saturday – 5/24

a1

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday. This was a good week for me, with lots of deals—some of which I found spur of the moment. The only downer was Rite Aid; everything I wanted was out, so it was nothing but Rain Checks.

Target:  2 Market Pantry Reduced Fat crackers, on sale for $1.58 each. I used a $1.00/2 Mobile coupon. Total: $1.08 each!

Pink lemonade, details here. Total: $0.14!

2 Up & Up toilet brushes, details here. Total: $0.44 each!

Neuro Sleep water, $2.39. I used a free product coupon. Total: Free!

a1

Walmart: Ground beef and Hamburger Helper deal, featured here. Total: $2.00 after rebate!

a1

Walgreens: I did 2 transactions for maximum savings.

Transaction #1: Coconut oil deal, featured here. Total: $6.00, plus an $8.00 Register Reward.

a1

Transaction #2:  1 Velveeta Cheesy Skillet, $1.99, with a $1.99 Register Reward.

2 Fiber Smart Natural Triple Fibers, clearance price $3.99 each. I used 2 $2.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $1.99 each.

1 Fiber Smart Chia Seeds, clearance price $3.79. I used a $2.00 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $1.79 each.

I paid for the Velveeta and the Fiber Smart with the $8.00 Register Reward, so those items cost me nothing out of pocket! (I added in a cheap candy for the overage and it was an exact amount.) Plus, I have $1.99 for future deals. Since the Fiber Smart is usually $15.99 each, I think it’s an awesome price. The crackers and lemonade will be good for snack attacks and the boxed food will all be donated. This is why I love to coupon!
