Schick Hydro Silk – My BzzAgent Gift Has Arrived!

shick

Have you heard of Bzzagent? It’s a company that sends out campaign invites for free products, in exchange for honest reviews. I’ve had the chance to take part in a few campaigns, the latest from Schick.

A big box was waiting for me in the mail yesterday. It contained a Schick hydro razor, some $4 coupons, and a free coupon for Skintimate shave gel.

I tried out the razor last night when I showered before bed. It’s a 5-blade, which I prefer. I used it with some Pure Silk shave gel. The combo resulted in a close shave, with smooth, cut-free legs! After I dried off, I put on some Vaseline intensive care lotion. My legs were feeling great! Hungry Bear (my guy) even commented on how soft I felt. This is definitely a product I’d buy, especially when it goes on sale!

My Experience With La Beaute Pure Vitamin C Serum

labueate

I love trying new beauty products, so I was super excited when La Beaute Pure  was kind enough to send me a bottle of their organic Vitamin C Serum to test.

I’ve been using it for the past 4 nights after cleansing, and I must say, it’s quite nice! It has no overwhelming scent, not sticky, or anything that would usually make me uncomfortable—as in no parabens, no chemicals, no preservatives, and no colors. A pea-sized amount covered my whole face. It’s supposed to help with fine wrinkles, sun spots and photo damaged skin. I haven’t seen any results yet, but I’m willing to keep trying!

Best of all, it comes with a 100% guarantee.

The Hair Products I Use

shampooconditioner

Yesterday, we discussed how to wash hair. Today, I’m going to discuss the hair products I use.

Shampoo: Currently, I’m using Tresemme Color Protection. It does a good job of cleaning without stripping. The scent is nice without being overwhelming.

Conditioner: Currently, I’m using John Frieda Full Body. I like this because it’s light enough not to weigh my hair down, but still keeps it moist.  (Yes, I do take my own advice and condition before I shampoo.)

On a daily basis, that’s it. Periodically, I’ll use mousse, hair masks, etc, but it’s not a regular thing. Because I am into Couponing, I have a huge stockpile of products to choose from. I switch shampoo and conditioners constantly. I find that the less I abuse my hair with product-overload, the better it looks and feels so a simple regimen is my choice.

How To Properly Wash Hair

a1

How to properly wash hair?! That may seem like an overly simplistic topic, but we all have to do it, and most of us do it wrong. Here are my tips for ultra-clean hair:

1.  Hair should be completely soaking wet, not just damp, before the shampoo is added. This is especially important for those with long hair who may skip this step impatiently. My hair is long, washing is boring—I get it. Still, it’s worth it.

2.  Use much less product—quarter-size at most. Also, make sure the shampoo is fully foamed in hand. Apply shampoo only to the roots, the rest is washed as it trickles down.

3.  Consider individual needs. Is your hair curly? Colored? Fine?  They make a product for that.

4.  If you do have fine/flat hair, apply conditioner before shampoo. Everyone else can condition after.

5.  Don’t repeat. One lather is plenty, unless hair is filthy.

6.  Rinse extremely well. A good rinse will take twice as long as shampooing.

When done properly, hair can easily go a day or two in between washings. I would never go more than two days in a row, unless I was coloring (more on how I color my hair in an upcoming post).

Do you agree with the above tips? Why or why not? Any additional advice appreciated!
