Super Savings Saturday – 10/17/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This week was all about the shampoo. On 10/11, I headed out to CVS, hoping to score a bunch before the coupons expired that day. I arrived at 7:47 AM, and only 5 bottles were left (thanks, shelf-clearers!). Luckily, I was able to get what I needed and wasn’t shut out of the deal. I swear if I don’t shop when the doors open on Sunday mornings, it’s nothing but rainchecks.

I also stocked up on free whitening toothpaste, panty liners, and cheap veggies.

CVS:

4 Tresemme shampoos, on sale $4.00. I used 2 $5.00/2 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $6.00 with $5.00 ECBs! (After store bucks, each bottle was only $0.25! Such a good deal for these huge bottles that last forever!)

Rite Aid:

2 Crest 3D toothpaste, on sale $3.00. I used 2 $0.75 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $4.50, plus $6.00 Plenti Points. (I paid with points, so my purchase was not only free, but a moneymaker!)

Shaws:

8 Green Giant frozen broccoli, on sale $0.88. I used 2 $0.80 manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $0.48 each! (Good to have on hand in the freezer for busy nights or bad ad weeks when fresh produce is overpriced.)

Target:

Kotex liners, regular price $2.99. I used a $2.00 manufacturer’s coupon, stacked with a $1.50 target mobile coupon. Total: Free! (I had other items, so it went through with slight overage. Always a good idea to use a filler in these situations.)

Feel free to share/link your deals in the comments.

Super Savings Saturday – 10/10/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This week was an interesting mix of freebies and cheapies. I only shopped two stores because the sales were few and my stockpile is full. I did do a lot of browsing, however, because I’m in the process of finding a replacement for my Dell laptop. Since it’s a big purchase, I don’t want to rush. I looked at Target, Walmart, and Staples, but I haven’t made up my mind yet.

Rite Aid:

2 K-Y Ultragels, on sale $3.99. I used 2 $2.00 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $1.99 each with 1.99 Plenti Points. (Since these were free after points, I picked them up to add to a bridal shower gift basket.)

Shaw’s:

2 bags of white potatoes, 5-lbs each, on sale for $0.99! (The average price is 2.50 a bag, so this was great. I find that potatoes have a longer shelf life when taken out of the plastic and put into a box that’s kept in a cool, dark location.)

4 boxes of Barilla Pronto pasta, regular price $1.50. I used 4 $0.75 manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: Free! (I have 3 more coupons to use when the shelves are restocked.)

Horizon super squeeze yogurt pouch, regular price $4.99. I used a free product coupon.

Organic kale, marked down to $1.00. (Not pictured because it’s already been eaten.)

Super Savings Saturday – 10/03/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

I’m happy to report that I was actually able to shop, unlike last week when I was extremely dizzy and disoriented from an antibiotic. On the good side, most of the side effects are gone. On the bad side, I suffered for 7 days and it didn’t even cure the infection! (I’m so sick of doctors that I could scream…)

It was terrible weather—cold, windy, and raining. I tried for days to get a good, bright picture of my haul and finally gave up. Sorry it’s not great, but you get the idea.

Tuesday was my busiest day, by far. I ended up with three free drinks, courtesy of National Coffee Day, so needless to say, I was very energized and shopped three stores.

CVS:

Burn Cream, on sale $5.00 with a $5.00 ECB. Total: Free!

Rite Aid:

2 Colgate Total toothpastes, on sale $2.99 each. I used 2 $1.00 manufacturer’s coupons stacked 2 $2.00 store coupons. Total: Free.

2 Irish Spring body washes, rain check price $3.50. I used 2 $1.50 manufacturer’s coupons stacked 2 $2.00 store coupons. Total: Free.

Scunci hair clip, regular price $4.29. (No special deal, but I needed it and I had store bucks to use.

Target:

Everyone was posting about a fantastic deal on Swiffer that was a moneymaker. I checked 2 stores and both were completely cleared out. Not every deal is a winner, but that’s life.

Why I Don’t Post Deal Match-Up

a3

Rikki emailed me the following question:

“Why don’t you post deal matches if you like to extreme coupon? I want some of the stuff you show in Super Savings Saturday.”

That’s a great question and I have a simple answer: I don’t do deal match-up because so many other sites are already doing it! Before couponing exploded on the internet, yes, I did do my own matching, but not now and I want to be honest about that.

Anyone who is looking for deals can easily check out these sites that I use:

Free Stuff Times

I Heart Rite Aid

I Heart Wags

I Heart CVS

Totally Target

Deals by Darlene (New England area stores like Shaws.)

Could I spend hours every week compiling and posting matches? Sure, but seriously folks, why re-invent the wheel? While I love to coupon and feature good deals, it’s just one part of my life. TJL is a lifestyle site and I try not to focus exclusively on any single category. Hopefully, that clears it up for anyone wondering!
