Super Savings Saturday – 8/22/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This week was all about breakfast food—cereal and cereal bars. I don’t like either, but the rest of the family does. By combining coupons, rebates, and sales, I was able to stock up for very little.

Otherwise it’s a s-l-o-w time for deals. Rite Aid & Walgreens weren’t interesting and I struck out at CVS. But that was nothing compared to a hellish trip to Walmart!

Shaws:

I finally downloaded the MyMixx app from Shaws, which features digital coupons and a weekly freebie (the Fiber One cookies).

3 Kellogg’s Nutri Grain, on sale Buy 2 Get 1 free. I used 2 $0.75 manufacturer’s coupons, stacked with a $1.00 Checkout 51 rebate. Total: $0.79 each!

2 Honey Nut Cheerios Medley Crunch, on sale $2.00 each. I used 2 $0.50 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $1.00 each!

2 Star Wars cereal, on sale $2.00 each. I used 2 $0.75 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.50 each!

CVS:

My goal was to find the free after ECB Propel water. I left with only a rain check.

Target:

I made a super quick trip to pick up two prescriptions and some cheap paper towels.

4 Bounty Basic Paper Towels, $0.97. I used a $0.50 manufacturer’s coupon, stacked with a 10% off Cartwheel offer. Total: $0.38 each!

The medicine, if anyone is curious, was $10.00 each. I try to always buy generic if possible because name brand prescriptions are ridiculously expensive!

Walmart:

As usual, shopping at Walmart is a nightmare. I wanted to price match some dry goods from a few different stores, thinking I’d save time/money with one quick stop. (Ok, stop laughing!) After waiting in line for 15 minutes, I then had to deal with a very inexperienced cashier that couldn’t work the register. Another 5 minutes waiting for a manager. Then another 5. At that point I was so tired and frustrated—it was 10:00 pm—I left everything there and went home!

Imagine: it takes less time to shop at 3 grocery stores than it does at Walmart!

Super Savings Saturday – 8/15/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This week was all about school supplies. There some amazing deals I went looking for at CVS and Walgreens, but most was sold out. I was planning to shop for a 3rd time today, but it was 89 degrees with a crazy thunder/lighting storm, so I passed. Due to the storm, I’m also not able to upload photos. I keep losing the connection, so I’m posting now and will try to add photos in later. Use your imagination until then!

CVS:

I made two trips on Sunday and Thursday. My store was out of the free Papermate pens, but I did find pencils.

3 pack of Papermate mechanical pencils, 5-ct, on sale $0.59 each. I used 3 $0.55 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.04 each!

Butterfinger, on sale $0.99. I used a $0.75 in-store coupon. Total: $0.24!

Caliber pencil sharpener, regular price $1.99.  I used a $1.50 in-store coupon. Total: $0.49!

Diet Coke 2-Liter, on sale $0.99.  I used a $0.25 in-store coupon. Total: $0.74!

Shaws:

I found some unexpected goodies hiding on the reduced rack.

Baby Basic diapers, 36-ct, marked down to $2.99! (Never tried the brand before, but it’s worth the risk, since diapers are usually $8.99.)

2 boxes Equaline heart burn relief, 30-ct, marked down to $1.99. (Must have medicine for Hungry Bear. His acid reflux is so bad, he once woke up with acid in his nose! So, I was glad to find a super cheap generic version of Zantac.)

2 Everyday Essential butters, on sale $1.99. (Not an incredible price, but butter is always expensive, anyway. I needed it to make sugar cookies.)

Target:

I brought my CVS & Walgreens ads in to price match. Big surprise, there was nothing available. Talk about a wasted trip. I left the store empty handed.

Super Savings Saturday – 8/8/2015

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

Due to a lack of deals and going on vacation this week, I didn’t do much shopping. In fact, I only did one coupon deal which is rare for me. I skipped the drugstores entirely and focused on getting some real food and giving myself grace to skip the rest. Hopefully, this list won’t disappoint anyone, but I want to keep it honest.

Local Produce Store:

Pack of Vidalia onions and Roma tomatoes, marked down to $0.99!

Pack of mixed red and yellow cherry tomatoes, marked down to $0.99!

Pack of nectarines and plums, marked down to $0.89!

Pack of zucchini, marked down to $0.79!

I was so excited to find many good veggies and fruit for so little money. The fruit we ate plain and the zucchini and tomatoes went into a pasta dish. I chopped and froze the onions for later use.

Shaws:

6 Bird’s Eye veggies, on sale $1.49 each if you buy 6. I used 6 $1.00 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.49 each! (The jury is still out on whether or not we’ll buy these again. All of the flavors are new and some were just plain weird like the buffalo cauliflower. For $0.49, it’s ok, but I wouldn’t pay full price.)

Family pack of sirloin steak tips, on sale $5.99/lb with $3.00 mark down coupon. Total: $14.77!  (Not pictured because we ate it all up and it was delicious. I marinated it overnight in Italian dressing and then grilled. So good, do quick, so easy!)

Super Savings Saturday – 8/1/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This week was a fun time shopping. I scoured the outlets for bargains and found cute clothes/shoes—both of which I’ve been needing. I also found some treats that were perfect for an at-home date night (we snacked on peanuts, pizza, & soda while watching Season 3 of Ray Donovan On Demand. SO much fun!), and struck gold with a huge sale on berries.

Gap Outlet:

They were having a 70% off clearance event which was awesome. I found a teal sweatshirt marked down to $3.99 and black wedge sandals marked down to $9.99.

Banana Republic Outlet:

Since this store is located right next to Gap, I try to always stop into both when I make a trip to the outlets. BR wasn’t having quite as many mark downs, but I did find black and white pony hair flats for only $10.99. They had a slight scuff on the bottom—which no one will see anyway—and were a final sale purchase.

Because my feet are narrow, I have a hard time finding anything that actually fits, so it was a nice surprise. I am saving the flats for fall and wearing the wedges now.

Target:

2 Red Barron pizza, on sale $2.50 each. I used a $1.50 Target mobile coupon stacked with a $1.00 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $1.25 each!

2 Diet Dr. Pepper 2-liters, regular price $1.89 each. I used a $1.00/2 manufacturer’s coupon stacked with 50% off cartwheel. Total: $0.44 each!

CVS:

2 containers of party peanuts, on sale $2.99 each. I used a $2.00/2 CVS coupon and $3.00 ECBs. Total: $0.49 each!

Rite Aid:

Crest sensitive toothpaste, on sale $3.00. I used a $0.50 manufacturer’s coupon and $2.50 Plenti Points. Total: Free, plus another $2.50 in points.

Local produce store:

8 pints of raspberries, on sale $0.99. Total: $7.92. (I froze most and used the rest for some very tasty muffins.
