Super Savings Saturday – 1/24/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

It was a great week of shopping, and I’m really glad I went early because today is a snowstorm here in New England. (Is anyone else as sick of the unrelenting cold/stormy weather? Yuck!)

The drug stores deals have been quite slim, but I didn’t let that deter me. By cherry-picking the best sales and using coupons whenever possible, I was able to score free food, pens, medicine, and much more. Plus, my favorite deal of all—cheap pajamas!

Shaw’s:

2 Cinnamon Toast cereals, on sale $1.88. I used 2 $0.50 Manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $0.88 each!   (Hungry Bear’s obsession. I keep encouraging him to eat healthy cereal, but he’s not convinced.)

Wal-Mart:

2 Finish dish tabs, sale price $2.96. I used 2 $2.15 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.81 each!

Orange, details here. Total: Free!

Rite Aid:

Max Freeze, rain check price $5.00 with a $5.00 Up Reward. Total: Free!

Bic pens, rain check price $1.00. I used a $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free!

Target:

I was so excited to find this deal. Normally, they cost $24.99 a pair. I was able to buy 4 pairs of pajamas for the price of one! If you haven’t tried Gilligan & O’Malley brand, it’s super. The 4th pair is a pink plaid and not pictured, because it’s in the wash.

4 Pajama sets, on sale $7.48 plus 20% off coupon. Total: $5.98 each!

Panera:

After all that shopping, I sure had worked up an appetite. I headed over to Panera and picked up free hazelnut coffee, a free cinnamon roll, and a Broth Bowl. (You can sign up for the same rewards by registering at Panera and watching videos.)

The Broth Bowl was a chicken & soba noodle combo. I doubt I’d pay full price, but it was a decent lunch for under $5.00, and it’s always fun to find treats!

Super Savings Saturday – 1/17/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

It was a week full of deals, except at the drug stores. Can you believe I stopped into CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens, and left each empty handed?! That only happens to me on rare occasions, and when it does, I have to fight my urge to buy something. I’m happy to report that I didn’t get any junk that wasn’t on my list and stayed on budget.

Hannaford:

9 Bayer aspirin, regular price $2.59 each. I used 3 $10.00/3 Manufacturer’s coupons (marked down to $7.77). Total: Free!    (I searched at Target, Wal-Mart, and 3 drugstores before I found any Bayer. Because the coupon was such a high value, stocks everywhere were totally depleted. I ended up finding some in Hannaford of all places. No overage, which I would’ve liked, but tons of free meds.)

2 Rib eye steaks, on sale $4.99/Lb. Total: $14.58. (Normally, the price is $12.49/Lb, so this was a huge reduction. I’m always on the lookout for unadvertised sales like this one.)

Shaw’s:

Everyday Essential bath tissue, on sale $2.99. Total: $2.99. (A fantastic price for the large pack. I try to stock up at $0.24 a roll or less. I would’ve bought more, but the limit was only 1.)

2 Everyday Essential crushed tomatoes, on sale $0.77. Total: $1.54.  (I like to keep these on hand for quick soups, stews, and chili.)

Edible Arrangements:

My favorite deal was a free pineapple pop. Due to being exceptionally overpriced and out-of-the-way, I’d never been into this store. I’m glad I did, because it was a fun time. The lady working there told me that walk-ins are rare and she was super friendly. The coupon was 1 pop per person and we got double (I took Hungry Bear along). The pops are a flower-shaped pineapple and cantaloupe combo. I have no idea what they normally cost, but it was a tasty treat for an exceptionally cold New England morning.

Super Savings Saturday – 1/10/15

a3

It’s Saturday, it’s Super, but there aren’t too many Savings!

Confession: This week was a complete disaster. Here in New England, we’ve been experiencing record cold temperatures coupled with wind chills. Combine bad weather with 10 straight days of insomnia and my ambition level was about zero. (I seriously accomplished nothing the entire week!) All of my grand plans fell by the wayside and I was really disappointed in myself. My goal now is to get my sleeping back on track and hopefully my shopping, too.

I went out Friday and made two quick stops to Target and Rite Aid. My haul was pitiful!

Target:

3 Glade candles, details here. Total: Free!

1 apple, details here. Total: Free!

Rite Aid:

I was looking for cheap hair care, Bic pens, Kellogg’s cereal, and Yardley soap. The only in-stock item was the Tresemme and Loreal. (I hate when this happens!) I did get rain checks for the missing items.

2 Tresemme shampoos, on sale $4.00 each. I used 2 $2.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $4.00, plus $3.00 in Up Rewards.  (Since I paid in Up Rewards, this cost nothing out of pocket for big bottles!)

Loreal Triple Strength spray, clearance price $3.50. I used a $2.00 manufacturer’s coupon stacked with a $1.00 Video Value coupon. Total: $0.50.

Definitely not my greatest set of deals, but I’ll take what I can get. Tomorrow’s another day, right?  🙂

Target: Free Glade Candles

a6

Are you a candle enthusiast? Combine coupons and a rebate to score Glade candles for free at Target.

Buy 3 Glade candles, clearance price $1.48. Use 3 $1.00 Glade product coupons. Pay $1.44 at the register and submit for a $2.00 rebate. Total: Free, plus overage!

My Target had 3 scents: Frosted Cookie, Citrus, and Apple Cinnamon. I didn’t care much for the Citrus, but the others are perfect. I love to keep candles on hand for when company is expected.
