Super Savings Saturday – 8/11/18

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

What a whirlwind week it was. I traveled to New York City on Tuesday so that I could attend the BlogHer conference on Wednesday and Thursday. Between delayed flights, stuck-in-traffic Lyft rides, endless walking, standing on my feet for 12+ hours daily, intense heat, and very little sleep, it was an adventure for sure!

But it was fun and informative as well. I got to meet so many amazing bloggers and influencers, attended an early morning breakfast hosted by Vagisil, watched some very cool panels, ate tons of good food, saw a bunch of celebrities (Hello, Tiffani Amber Thiessen!), and was spoiled beyond belief with swag.

We were seriously treated like royalty and I felt so blessed to have been included. The conference is held annually, always in a different location, which keeps it fresh. If I’m invited again in 2019, I will surely attend.

Ever since, I’ve been trying to catch up on rest and housework. I never made it to the grocery store, despite my best intentions. I have had takeout food 5 days in a row, which is extremely rare for me. Once I get caught up, it will be back to normal. I did, however, manage some quick drug store shopping.

Walgreens:

Mentos mints, sale price $0.99 with $0.99 Register Rewards.

Purex Laundry detergent, sale price $1.99. I used a $1.00 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $0.99.

Trolli Gummy worms, sale price $1.50 with $1.50 Register Rewards.

Renu Advanced contact solution, sale price $7.99. I stacked a $5.00 store coupon with a $2.00 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $0.99.

Rite Aid:

2 Hello charcoal toothpastes, sale price $5.00. Total: $10.00 plus $10.00 Bonus Cash. (The only weird part is the color. I’ve never seen black toothpaste before.)

3 Colgate Total toothpastes, sale price $3.50. I used 3 $0.50 manufacturer’s coupons stacked with 3 $3.00 store coupons. Total: Free.

Super Savings Saturday – 8/4/18

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

What a wild weather week this has been—multiple storms with torrential rain and wind, sporadic power outages, a leaking garage roof, and a possibility of flooding. I want to enjoy summer, but heat, humidity and storms really make it tough.

In between, during the dry moments, I did manage to fit in some shopping and stocked up on fresh produce and meat, candy, school supplies, and household goods.

Walgreens:

1 Mentos Now Mints, sale price $1.99 plus $1.99 Register Reward.

1 Trolli Candy, sale price $1.00 plus $1.00 Register Reward.

2 Benadryl Itch Relief Sticks, regular price $3.49. I used 2 $1.00 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $3.24 plus 3,000 Balance Rewards Points.

6 Wexford 2-Pocket Folders, sale price $0.29. Total: $1.74.

1 Classic Crayola Markers, sale price $0.99.

Local Produce Store:

They had so much good stuff available! The prices change each day, along with the selection. Sometimes I score big; other times, I leave with nothing. This was a “fill your cart to the brim” trip, for approximately $20.00, which is half the grocery store price.

Personal watermelons, $1.00 each.

Zucchini, $0.89/lb.

Peaches, $0.69/lb.

Nectarines, $0.99/lb.

CVS:

Cover Girl Outlast lip color, regular price $7.39. I stacked a $4.00 store coupons with a $3.00 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $0.39. (Some folks reported having an Ibotta rebate for Cover Girl that was a moneymaker. I did not. Regardless, I won’t complain over $0.39!)

Just the Basics Toilet Paper, regular price $0.99. I used a $0.75 store coupon. Total: $0.24. (This was a single roll of one-ply.)

Shaw’s:

4 blueberries, sale price $1.50/pint. Total: $6.00.

2 chicken drumstick family packs, sale price $0.77/lb. Total: $5.39. (Incredibly low meat price).

Super Savings Saturday – 7/21/18

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

This week was freebie heaven, thank to rebates. Are you using Ibotta? If not, check it out. Because it’s a mobile app with no coupons to clip and no paper rebates to mail in, it’s super simple to use. Once you hit $20.00, you can cash out straight to PayPal and new users get a $10.00 bonus for signing up.

Walgreens:

I intended to pick up more cheap school supplies, but everything was gone. I probably should’ve gone earlier in the week. Oh well…

Walmart:

2 L’Oreal shampoos, regular price $3.97. I used a $4.00/2 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $3.97 plus $4.00 Ibotta rebate.

Excedrin Tension Headache, regular price $3.48. I used a $1.50 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $1.98 plus $2.50 Ibotta rebate.

Forto coffee shot, regular price $1.99 plus $1.99 Ibotta rebate.

Food Network Kitchen salad dressing, regular price $2.98 plus $2.98 Ibotta rebate.

Rite Aid:

2 Twizzlers, sale price $1.50. Total: $3.00 plus $3.00 Bonus Bucks. (No pictures because a little monster ate both packs while we were still shopping.)

CVS:

Revlon blush, regular price $11.99. I used a $4.00 off $12.00 store coupon combined with a $4.00 Revlon store coupon. Total: $4.00 plus $4.00 ECB’s.

Super Savings Saturday – 7/14/18

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

Can you believe it’s already time for Back to School sales? It seems incredibly silly to roll them out in mid-July, but that’s retail. I’m finding lots of supplies available, along with cleaning items like paper towels and tissues.

Target:

There was a Cartwheel offer, good for 15% off, with a limit of 4.

2 Up & Up Crayons 24-pack, sale price $0.21 each. Total: $0.42.

2 Up & Up Rulers, sale price $0.21 each. Total: $0.42.

Walgreens:

6 Wexford Highlighters, sale price $0.16 each. Total: $1.00.

6 Wexford 2-Pocket Folder, sale price $0.16 each. Total: $1.00.

Viva paper towels, 6-pack, sale price $5.00. I stacked a $0.50 manufacturer’s coupon with a $1.00 store coupon. Total: $3.50.

3 Kleenex tissues, clearance price $0.39 each. Total: $1.17. (These were an unexpected find from the clearance rack. The boxes were crushed, but still usable and cost less than 1 box regularly does. Always worth checking your local store for stuff like this.)

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that we got swept up into the Build-A-Bear hysteria on Thursday. “Pay Your Age” was a total disaster, with long lines, and many stores shutting down completely from the chaos. We were parking right as the store closed, so there was no waiting, but the kids were crushed. I saw multiple little ones sob and multiple adults scream and curse. (Nice, huh?) Definitely was poor planning on the store’s part because they underestimated how popular it would be. A $15.00 voucher was issued for everyone’s trouble.

Shaw’s:

4 Strawberries, sale price $1.50. Total: $6.00.

2 Romaine lettuce, 3-ct bag, sale price $1.99. Total: $3.98.

Boneless chicken breasts, sale price $1.69. Total: $6.82.
