Super Savings Saturday – 11/28/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

I got through the Coupon Olympics and ended up with bags and bags of goodies that made all the planning, shopping, multiple transactions, aching feet/back, and chaos worth it!

I shopped at CVS twice, on Sunday and Thanksgiving; Rite Aid was Thanksgiving only. Normally, I also do Walgreens, but they weren’t participating so it was lighter than usual. Since the early bird catches the worm, I left home at 6:30 am, stopped at Starbucks for a treat and was waiting outside when the drug store opened.

(My store had no Trolli candy or Cover Girl Smoochies, so those were a raincheck. The No-Grey hair color wasn’t even an item they carry normally, so no raincheck/substitution.)

I did multiple transactions, starting with the cheapest item and rolled. Out of pocket, I spent les than $2.00 on everything!

Rite Aid 11/26-28 ad

Plenti Points can’t be rolled, so my total at Rite Aid was very high. To offset that, I used some gift cards that I’ve been saving for the occasion.

I did many small transaction to make sure deals were tracking, and lots didn’t! Some never earned points, some limits were posted incorrectly, etc. It took over 3 hours to straighten everything out.

(I didn’t want the Zim’s cream, Phillip’s earbuds or Conair elastics because I already have them in the stockpile. Nivea tins were gone. Other than the cold medicine, every item had 100% rebate.)

Wow, just writing it outs makes me tired; it always amazes me that I do this annually, but in the end, I’m glad I did it!

Super Savings Saturday – 11/21/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This was a slow week, but that’s ok because I’m busy preparing my lists for the Coupon Olympics (Black Friday sales). Rite Aid and CVS have amazing upcoming ads, but Walgreens seems terrible. In 2014, they offered 19 freebies and this year it’s supposedly only two. Crazy!

I made 2 quick stops at the drugstores and skipped everything else. I wanted to do my Thanksgiving shopping early, but ran out of time. Hopefully, I can get there early tomorrow or Monday before the huge crowds.

My best deals came from CVS, due to receiving a postal mailer full of store coupons. None had size restrictions and I used them for snacks, paper products, and hygiene items—you know, all the important stuff!

CVS:

Playtex sport pads, sale price $7.99. I used a $4.00 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $3.99, plus $3.00 ECB!

Total Home tissues, sale price $0.99. I used a $1.00 CVS coupon (marked down by a penny). Total: Free!

Gold Emblem pretzels, regular price $1.00. I used a $1.00 CVS coupon. Total: Free!

Dove trial sized deodorant, regular price $1.27. I used a $1.00 CVS coupon. Total: $0.27!

Rite Aid:

2 Bounty paper towels, on sale $0.78. I used 2 $0.50 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.38 each!

Super Savings Saturday – 11/7/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This week was all about meat. After taking inventory of my freezer, it was obvious I needed to restock (the only things in there were frozen veggies and a pizza!). Luckily, I was able to find lots of Manager’s Specials and mark downs. Because the deals at the drug stores were terrible, I skipped them entirely. (Does anyone really need more Propel water? Not me.)

Hannaford:

I found 2 small packages of beef brisket and 1 truly enormous pack that weighed over 6-lbs. The average price for brisket is 5 or 6 dollars; mine was on sale for only $3.49/lb.

Pack 1: $6.27.

Pack 2: $7.32.

Pack 3: $22.89.

Just as an observation, I prefer the smaller size. The largest pack was untrimmed and had much more fat. Even after cutting all the fat off, there was still a ton of meat, so it’s worth the money, but be prepared for extra prep time.

Shaws:

2 packs of deli turkey, on sale $3.99 with $2.00 coupons. Total: $1.99 each.

2 chicken drumsticks, BOGO sale and $1.00 coupons. Total: $2.67 for both!

2 eye round thin-sliced steaks, with $1.50 coupon and $2.00 coupon. Total: $3.38 and $4.01!

With Thanksgiving coming up soon, I will be looking for deals on whole turkey and turkey breasts, but for now, we’re ok on meat.

Super Savings Saturday – 10/31/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday! Are you having a Happy Halloween? I sure hope so. Mine has been fun, but lots of activity and I’m exhausted.

This was a terrific week for shopping, both for me and my sister. She was kind enough to provide the picture above of her huge haul at Family Dollar. While I didn’t get anywhere near as much, I did find cheap makeup, boots, and food.

Family Dollar:

Because my sister lives in a metro area in Florida, she has access to many more stores than I do. She heard about unadvertised clearance on Instagram and checked out 4 locations. I don’t have a complete breakdown, but she found tuna, beef jerky, peeps, kid’s clothes, pet treats, Gain dish gloves, a 6-cube organizer, and a ton more! The most amazing part? The total was $28.99!  I am so impressed with her couponing skills.

Target:

4 pairs of boots, 40% off each pair with Cartwheel, price range from $9.99-19.99. (Not pictured because they’re gifts and I don’t want anyone peeking.)

CVS:

Revlon single eye shadow, regular price $3.39. I used a $3.00 in-store coupon. Total: $0.39!

CVS brand panty liner, regular price $1.27. I used a $1.00 in-store coupon. Total: $0.27!

Shaw’s:

Split chicken breast, on sale $1.29/lb. Total: $6.37.

Spinach, on sale $1.00/bag.

Bob Evans Mac n’ Cheese, sale price $3.99. I used a free product coupon.
