Super Savings Saturday – 3/9/19

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

This was such a fun week. I haven’t shopped so many stores in quite a while and it reminded me of my extreme couponing marathons from 10 years ago. I went to every drugstore, a grocery store, and Target.

In other shopping news, an Aldi is coming to town, with an opening date of summer 2019. I’ve never set foot in one and I’m pretty curious. It seems like people either love it or hate it. If you’ve been to Aldi, share your opinion.

CVS:

Loreal Elvive shampoo, regular price $4.99. I used a $3.00 store coupon combined with a $2.00 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free.

Maybelline mascara, regular price $7.79. I used a $3.00 store coupon combined with 30% off store coupon and a $2.00 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free.

Rite Aid:

Russell Stover’s chocolate eggs, sale price $0.50. Total: $1.00 plus $1.00 Bonus Cash.

Walgreens:

4 Angel Soft toilet paper, sale price $1.99. I used 4 $0.50 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $5.96. (I would’ve bought much more, but the store was limiting 4 per customer.)

Hannaford:

Split breast chicken, sale price $0.89/lb. Total: $28.77. (Such a great deal and now the freezer is stocked.)

Zucchini, manager’s special sale price $0.77/lb. Total: $11.03.

Target:

Ocean Spray Pink Grapefruit juice, sale price $2.89. I stacked 50% off Cartwheel offer with a $1.00 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $0.44.

Super Savings Saturday – 2/16/19

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

The word of the week was “free” and Walmart was the place to be. (Who likes my corny rhyme? Am I too silly? Nah!) 🙂

Thanks to Ibotta, I was able to bring home a variety of goodies that won’t cost anything after rebate. Every one of these items is still available if you’d like to do the same deals.

Walmart:

Perfect Energy Bar, regular price $1.98. Total: Free after rebate. (The peanut butter flavor is ok, but nothing exceptional.)

YQ by Yoplait Yogurt, regular price $1.34. Total: Free after rebate.

Forto Coffee Shot, regular price $1.98. Total: Free after rebate.

Base Culture Almond Brownie, regular price $1.56. Total: Free after rebate.

Bic Flex5 Razor, regular price $5.97. Total: Free after rebate. (The last item was also free from Bic itself, not Ibotta.)

In addition to the Ibotta freebies, I also bought a bunch of bananas at $0.39/lb and limes that were $0.25 each.

Have you redeemed any rebates lately?

Super Savings Saturday – 2/9/19

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

After a taking a break during January from coupon shopping, I hit the stores hard this week and found lots of goodies. While it’s good to take a little time off, I could never quit couponing permanently. It’s just too much fun.

Rite Aid:

Pantene gel, clearance price $1.57. I used a $1.50 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $0.07.

Dove Shampoo and Conditioner, clearance price $1.32. I used a $3.00/2 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free.

2 Wet ‘n Wild lipliners, clearance price $1.00. I used 2 $1.00 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: Free. (These were unmarked at my store, so check yours if you’d like some.)

CVS:

Pantiliners, regular price $1.49. I used a $1.50 store coupon. Total: Free.

Shaw’s:

2 dozen eggs, sale price $0.88. (Both will be boiled to make egg salad sandwiches for lunches and hard boiled eggs for snacks.)

Walgreens:

2 Lindt truffles, regular price $1.00. I used 2 $1.00 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: Free. (These only had 2 pieces of candy per bag. That’s fine for a freebie, but if I was paying? OMG, no.)

Super Savings Saturday – 12/29/18

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday. It’s hard to believe, but this is the last one for 2018.

I’ve been in and out of many stores lately, sifting through the clearance sales after Christmas. It ended up being a huge waste of time—underwhelming selection, low inventory, trashed stores.

Not everything that’s marked down is actually a deal; that’s why it’s so important to know your prices. For instance, the wrapping paper I saw at Walmart was $2.44. That’s nothing special; it’s $1.00 all the time at Dollar Tree! Needless to say, I didn’t buy any.

Target was another letdown. I’d read online that Kids PJ Sets were only $4.99 and Women’s robes were $19.99. I shopped two locations in my area and found zero—despite the inventory checker showing they were in store.

In the end, I picked up a few random items.

Walmart:

6 lemons, sale price $0.30. Total: $1.80.

Target:

8 Bird’s Eye string beans, sale price $0.90. Total: $7.20. (Good to keep in the freezer for last-minute dinners.)

CVS:

Almay eyeshadow, regular price $6.99. I stacked two store coupons, one for $3.00 and another for $4.00. Total: Free.

And that was my “nothing special” shopping list. Definitely a downer, but it’s better than buying junk I don’t need that’s overpriced. Sometimes you just can’t find a good deal and that’s all there is to it.

Let me know if you found any after-the-holiday goodies.
