Super Savings Saturday – 7/7/18

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

Due to being on vacation, my shopping time was limited. I picked up free dog food at Petco and then went across the street to CVS (because I’m so efficient like that… As If.)

CVS:

Sally Hansen nail polish, regular price $3.29. I used a $3.00 store coupon. Total: $0.29.

Dawn dish soap, sale price $0.99. I used a $0.25 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $0.74.

Scope mouthwash, sale price $4.79. I used a $1.00 manufacturer’s coupon stacked with a $1.00 store coupon. Total: $2.79 plus $3.00 ECB. (There is a ridiculous amount of mouthwash in my stockpile, but I don’t turn down anything free.)

Oral-B toothbrush pack, regular price $5.29. I used a $1.00 manufacturer’s coupon stacked with a $2.00 store coupon. Total: $3.29 plus $3.00 ECB.

I didn’t do any regular grocery shopping, so I’ll have to compensate for the upcoming week with a huge haul. I guess it all evens out in the end.

Super Savings Saturday – 6/30/18

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

It’s 92 degrees and I feel ready to melt. Extreme heat and humidity aggravate my asthma and allergies, and also make me extremely lethargic. I’ve spent the past two days—since the heatwave started—moaning and groaning. Temperatures aren’t predicted to break until next Saturday, so it’s going to be a long wait.

On the shopping front, there were so many freebies and cheapies. Holidays are normally a great time to stock up and July 4 never disappoints, with every type of BBQ favorite on sale. I hit every store on my list except for Shaws. Their ad runs Friday-Thursday, so I’ll wrap that into next week’s Super Savings Saturday.

Walgreens:

Remember that brown sugar I was chasing last week? I found it, and a lot more.

2 Nice light brown sugar, sale price $1.29. I used 2 $1.00 store coupons. Total: $0.29 each!

Trolli candy, sale price $0.99. Total: $0.99 plus $0.99 Register Reward.

Black Forest gummy bears, sale price $1.99. Total: $1.99 plus $0.99 Register Reward.

Walmart:

2 Garnier Whole Blends hair masks, regular price $1.50. I used two $2.00 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: Free plus overage!

Hannaford:

Split chicken breast, sale price $0.99/Lb. Total: $18.89. (Huge stock up for the freezer. I portion 3 breasts per Ziploc with added marinade and it works out perfectly.)

Sirloin steak tips, sale price $4.77/LB. Total: $14.72. (Admittedly a splurge, but very tasty.)

Super Savings Saturday – 6/23/18

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

Word of the week: Chaotic. Isn’t it amazing that when you want to sell your home, everything starts to break? We dealt with a shattered window (accident), destroyed mailbox (vandalism), and found 2 dead rodents in the garage (so creepy and gross).

I did manage to find some good cheapies and freebies, though, which added a bit of fun to an otherwise annoying week.

Shaw’s:

Their digital coupon program, formerly called MyMixx, has been replaced with Just For U. The transition was a bit rocky—none of my coupons came off, but they did push it through without complaint. There were lots of $0.99 deals that I wanted, all of this stuff pictured and much more. It’s being heavily promoted and I think the new app will be more popular.

Foxy strawberries, sale price $0.99.

Lay’s original chips, sale price $0.99.

Poland Spring 24-pack water, sale price $0.99.

Kraft BBQ sauce, sale price $0.99.

4 Ken’s Simply Salad dressing, sale price $1.88. I used 4 $0.75 manufacturer’s coupons, doubled. Total: $1.52.

3 Everyday Essentials frozen broccoli, sale price $0.88. Total: $2.64.

Rite Aid:

4 mouthwash, store brand. Sale price $2.00. Total: $8.00 plus $8.00 Bonus Cash. (I rolled my points so there was no cost out of pocket and we’re stocked on mouthwash for months.)

Walgreens:

I wanted to buy brown sugar that was supposed to be only $0.29 a box after store coupon. Of course, they had none on the shelf, but I did get a rain check for later. I’m going to use it for homemade foot scrub rather than eating, so the wait isn’t a problem.

Super Savings Saturday – 6/2/18

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

This week revolved around preparing to move—cleaning, sorting, donations, meeting with 3 realtors, landscaping, and a bunch more! (Gosh, I’m tired just writing that out. It’s a never-ending process lately.) The idea is to have our place on the market within 2 weeks. While it’s listed, we also have to scout for a new home and then coordinate a sale and a purchase. Not an easy task for sure, but it needs to be done.

On the shopping front, I’m not stocking up too much for obvious reasons. I did find a few deals that were too good to pass up and had one epic fail at a consignment shop.

Shaw’s:

2 Shady Brook Farms ground turkey, sale price $2.49. I used 2 $1.00 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $2.98! (Made into decent-tasting burgers. I prefer beef, though.)

Signature Farms chicken thighs, clearance price $0.39/lb. I used a $1.25 MyMixx digital coupon. Total: $0.81. (I have never, ever bought a family pack of meat this cheaply. Looking for Manager’s Specials, BOGO deals, and markdowns are the best ways to save.)

Rite Aid:

2 Men’s Daylogic razors, sale price $5.00. Total: $10.00 plus $10.00 Plenti Points. (Because I rolled points, it cost nothing out of pocket.)

Children’s Orchard:

I’ve had good luck buying a few things here in the past. Selling, however, was a nightmare. I filled my Pathfinder to the brim with toys, baby equipment, clothes, shoes, and books. After hauling everything inside, I was told they were short staffed and it would take 2 hours for an evaluation.

Because they’re across the street from the mall, I said okay and walked around aimlessly, waiting. Upon returning, they offered me less than $30.00 for everything—not even $1.00 per item. I have no problem with a slight markup, but that’s just ridiculous gouging. Needless to say, I sold nothing, had to bring all that junk back home and now will look into a yard sale. Ugh…

Fuego Box:

On the same day I scored at Shaw’s with the meat deals, a huge box of condiments was delivered for me to review. (Even though I’ve been blogging for many years, I still get excited by every single package.) Talk about a nice assortment of hot sauce, sandwich spread, spicy honey, and a dry rub! The Jalapeno & Garlic is extra awesome. I would definitely recommend these products if you enjoy spicy foods. Plus, for each Chili Cause Crate sold, a donation is made to Prostate Cancer research.
