Reebok’s New Fight Shop

This post contains affiliate links and I may be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

Exciting news for those of us who have MMA fans in the family. (My guy is addicted!) Reebok recently unveiled their new Fight Shop. It’s a destination where fighters, and those who train like fighters, can find all the apparel they need.

In Reebok’s Fight Shop, you’ll be able to gear up for the main event and shop the official UFC Fight Kit worn by all UFC fighters on Fight Night. The line of apparel in the Fight Kit was developed by Reebok in collaboration with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters. The kit will debut for the first time on July 11.

In the Fight Shop, you’ll also find UFC Fan Gear, so you can show your support for your favorite fighter, and Reebok Combat, gear that is light and breathable, enabling you to train like a fighter.

I think this would be a great gift for dads and sons!

My “Big Crazy Family Adventure” TV Obsession

a3

I love most of the shows featured on the Travel Channel and Big Crazy Family Adventure is my newest TV obsession! The stars of the show are the Kirkbys, a family that consists of parents Bruce and Christine, plus sons Bodi & Taj.

Bruce Kirkby is a longtime travel guide/photographer who’s known for visiting the most remote locations. He conceived of taking the “family trip of a lifetime”—a 13,000 mile, 96-day trek from their home in Canada to a monastery in India. Because their boys are only 7 and 3, that would be daunting under any circumstances, yet the Kirkbys kicked it up several thousand notches by not using any airplanes!

Throughout their odyssey, they focused on alternative travel methods, using a combination of canoe, cargo ship, ferry boat, bullet train, riverboat, taxi, pony, elephant and rickshaw—plus good old walking, whenever possible.

When I first heard the premise of Big Crazy Family Adventure, I couldn’t believe any parents would even attempt, let alone enjoy, such a trip. Traveling with kids is hard for most of us; I can remember my own parents almost had a nervous breakdown when we took a simple car trip to Disney World. But the Kirkbys seem to have a pioneer spirit. What makes their trip even more impressive is that little Bodi has Autism and unfamiliar surroundings can be super tricky.

Obviously, there were disappointments and mini meltdowns like when they missed their train in China and were detained in Russia, but overall the Kirkbys kept a remarkably cheerful can-do attitude. I doubt most of us would want to recreate their adventure, but it’s inspiring to watch nonetheless.

Every episode is available with On Demand, so you can binge to your heart’s delight. I watched 5 shows in a single sitting; that’s how good I thought it was. Isn’t vicarious living fun…

Would you attempt a Big Crazy Family Adventure? Why or why not? Personally, I’d be too scared!

How to Select the Right Baby Stroller

a3

A close friend of mine is expecting her first baby—at age 40!—and is going through the baby buying binge stage. When she asked me for some advice on strollers, I was glad to help because looking at those can be an incredibly confusing task. With so many options on the market, it’s not easy to know which features you actually need and which ones are just extras. Because a stroller is a big purchase, it’s important to research your options. You’ll be using it for a few years and possibly for many years, if you plan on having multiple children.

1. Buy a stroller for your lifestyle

Do you jog constantly? No? Then you don’t need a jogging model! Have only 1 child? Then you don’t need a double version. Travel often? Nope? Then you don’t need a travel stroller. Seriously, the right model is one that best serves your needs, not every need.

2. Consider storage

Most moms will need a space to put baby, purse, diaper bag and shopping bags! If you travel light, you can get away with a stroller with just a little mesh spot underneath it. If you’re going mall shopping, though, I recommend pulling out a bigger model that has ample storage space, cup holders, and other cool features like umbrellas.

3. Assembly

Some strollers can be almost impossible to easily assemble. Look for ones with very basic instructions that can be put together with only one hand needed (There’s never an extra hand free with babies!). Yes, some super high tech strollers pop up by remote, but factor in the cost, too.

4. Price

Don’t always assume the most expensive brand is the best. I’ve seen quality options at all different prices. Because strollers aren’t cheap to begin with, look for them on sale and they also make great requests for registries and baby showers.

Do you have a favorite stroller? Please share and I’ll pass the info along. Links would be great!
