A huge thank you is going out to my sister, Jackie, for this post! As many of you know, she’s been dealing with a very sick Chihuahua on a limited budget. She’s spent countless hours looking for financial assistance to cover medical expenses for pets. This is the master list of nearly every nationwide pet charity. If you’re also in need, check out these resources:

While you await approval from charities, start a fundraiser to get a jumpstart on the vet bill total:

www.Youcaring.com is the best crowdfunding site! There are no fees to host your fundraiser! (You will have to pay the 3% PayPal fee from your donations.) Check out their sister site petcaring.com, which has less traffic, but is pet specific. There are several other crowdfunding platforms, but YouCaring.com is the ONLY free option available. I have seen others run successful campaigns on GiveForward.com, but you will have to pay a 4% fee on top of the PayPal fee.

Have you ever struggled to pay vet bills?

Oh my I want to cry! I’m so happy to read this. My husband and I are involved in animal rescue and vet bills are so expensive. It’s so sad when people can’t afford to help their pets 🙂

Thank you for such a helpful resource for pet owners. When I get my next dog, I am definitely investing in some pet insurance.. We spent a great deal to remove uterine cancer from one of my dogs. She survived for a short period of time, but I could not imagine having to put down a pet because I couldn’t pay a vet bill.

Wow, I had no idea these types of charities existed. It’s so nice that people who are great pet owners, just don’t necessarily have a lot of money, can turn to these groups for help when their beloved furry family members need help.

This is so wonderful! Sometimes I wonder what I would do if my cat got really sick and I couldn’t afford to pay for her medical bills. Thank you for sharing this.

I had a pet turtle that got hit by a car. I couldn’t afford to pay the $500 to get him fixed up so I was able to find a vet who took him and cared for him and then they turned him over to the herbalogical society

So sad, and I agree a great plan to have financial aid for pets. Why not, I mean its only fair why do humans get treated differently when pets have same illnesses, and problems we get as well. Broken bones, diseases, etc. We all face it and we all should deserve the same coverage and treatment. Great post!! 🙂 thank you for sharing.

I hope this assistance are also available in my country (Philippines) because I got some cats and dogs and honestly I am not able to take them on a vet that is why I am really so careful on taking care of them and depending on some tips that i can read.

Wow! I never knew you could get pet assistance. I do know that the prepaid Care Card which is provided by many insurance companies as a savings account for meeting your deductible, can also be used at vets. I never knew there were so many organizations out there that help our furry friends. Thanks for sharing.
