In select test markets in Florida, Walmart is agreeing to honor competitor’s BOGO ads. Since my sister, Jackie, lives in Florida, she was kind enough to do a test-run and report back. Her results were amazing! I hope this will go national, so I can join in the fun!
Walmart Price Matching Adventure
Did you know that Walmart in Florida will match Winn Dixie and Publix BOGO deals?! This is a major game-changer for those of us in Florida!
I needed some dry goods and a few basic items, so I sat down with my Winn Dixie Weekly ad and got ready for a late night Walmart run. These deals are valid thru 8/19.
After I had my list, I matched newspaper coupons and printable coupons for the sale items.
I am on an extremely tight budget, so having this much food in the pantry and fridge really feels great!! For $50.07 total, check out what I was able to buy:
40 cans of Sheba cat food for $10. What a score! (Buy 10, Get 10 free Pâté cans Manufacturer’s coupons.) A quarter a can makes me and my kitty very happy!
Oops, 8-roll pack of Decorator brand paper towels instead of the Sparkle coupon deal I wanted. I paid $4.97 for 8 rolls of crappy paper towels, but whatever. I’m not an extreme couponer like The Jewish Lady, so mess ups are expected.
2 pouches of Starkist tuna. The shelf price for these was $1.22, but they rang up at $1. I used 2 $0.75 Starkist pouch Manufacturer’s coupons and paid $.50 total for both!
8 Müeller yogurt cups. I had planned on getting a larger size, but my Walmart only had the little ones for $0.78. This was actually a better deal since I had 2 $1.00/4 Manufacturer’s coupons. I paid $4.24 total for 8 fancy Greek yogurts with mousse fruit topping.
I picked up a pack of 10 Bic razors because I had a $3.00 coupon. I was hoping to get something better quality, but for $.18 total, I won’t be a snob about them only having 2 blades. Score!
1 Silk almond milk, half gallon. I used a $1.00 Manufacturer’s Coupon and paid $1.98 total.
2 Yo Crunch cereal bowls. Honestly, I don’t know if these are cereal or yogurt or a combo of the two. They’re probably really good, so I grabbed 2. The shelf price was $1.25/each. I used 2 $0.75 Manufacturer’s Coupons and paid $1 total for both.
I had a few other things on my list that I needed for the week, so I also picked up a few items not on sale and without coupons:
* 2 bananas – $0.54
* 1 Libby’s sweet corn – $0.77
* 2 Libby’s green beans – $0.77/each
* 2 Progress Soups – $1.88/each
* 1 box of Lipton extra soup – $1.28
* 1 Jar of Vlasic kosher dill pickles – $1.97
* a big container of blueberries – $2.48
* dozen eggs – $1.98
* 3lb bag of potatoes – $3.37
* 1lb bag of Bolthouse Farms carrots – $0.88
Winn Dixie BOGO price match:
1 Welch’s grape jam or jelly or strawberry spread, 22 oz. squeeze. I used a $1.00/2 Manufacturer’s Coupon and paid $.98 total for both!
2 Nature’s Own butter bread, 20 oz. I paid $2.28 total for 2 loaves.
Kraft macaroni & cheese dinner, 7.25 oz. (I know this isn’t healthy, but I couldn’t resist a BOGO on this.) I paid $1.28 total for 2 boxes.
Edy’s ice cream, 48 oz (I did a quick Google in store to verify that equals 1.5qts) I paid $3.24 total for a big tub of mint chocolate chip & a butter pecan- YUM!)
Tomorrow, I will be doing a price match on Publix BOGO deals, as well as purchasing my produce for the next two weeks.
I planned. I shopped. I got every item on my list!
Jackie, I am very impressed with your shopping skills! Welcome to the coupon world; you’re gonna love it here…
