The Jewish Lady Won an Award! (I Can’t Believe it)

Here’s a bit of news that I can hardly believe: The Jewish Lady was honored with an award, rating #23 on the list of the Top 50 Jewish Blogs! To be included with huge, influential Jewish groups like JTA, ADL, and The Jewish Press is truly remarkable. I was also super excited to see that my friend, Sew Jewish, made the cut.

None of this would’ve happened without the love and support of my readers. Thank you all so very much. TJL would be nothing without you and every single reader is important to me. Obviously, I don’t blog for awards; I blog because I love it, but it’s really nice to see that others enjoy my ramblings.

Proof That Hasidic Women Can Have Successful Careers

judge27n-3-web

Think Hasidic women have no freedom, no career, no life at all? Rachel Freier proves it’s only a stereotype. She has just become the first Hasidic woman judge in NYC. While Reform and Conservative judges have become quite common, it’s a wonderful step forward for the Orthodox community.

I think this quote from the Judge sums up her philosophy, and it’s certainly something I agree with: “One of my missions is to prove to the girls out there that you can be devotedly religious and not have to compromise your standards to be successful in the business or professional world.”

$50.00 Panda Express Gift Card Giveaway

pandaexpress

This giveaway is inspired by “Jewish Christmas,” as in there’s nothing to do, so let’s go to a movie and then have Chinese afterwards. That’s definitely what I’m doing today, although I could probably eat Chinese daily without growing sick of it (just not before bed!)

Enter to win and you could be feasting at Panda Express!

Super Savings Saturday – 12/24/16

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

Hanukkah, at last! It’s been a wonderful evening of fun and excitement, but I’m also completely, totally, insanely exhausted! (I bet the rest of you are feeling it as well.) Between the crowds, the cold, and holiday prep, I had to simplify my shopping this week. I went to Market Basket for regular groceries and holiday meal items, then to Target for a few random deals.

I shopped late on Tuesday night, and while it wasn’t a terrible experience, it was still a lot more effort than I felt like expending, probably because I was price matching, using coupons, and using Cartwheel.

Target:

2 Mountain Dew 12-packs and 2 Pepsi 12-packs. The regular price is $4.99 each. I brought in my Hannaford flyer, sale price $2.50 each. I used 2 manufacturer’s coupons for $2.00/2 stacked with a 50% off Cartwheel offer. Total: $0.25 each! (Normally, we’re a Coca Cola home only, but these were dirt cheap, so I bought it anyway. If we don’t drink them, it will be a good donation.)

soda

2 Gold Bond powders, regular price $0.99. Total: $1.98, plus $4.00 Checkout 51 rebate! (Since there was no size restriction, the cheap travel containers were ok. I love moneymakers.)

2 Pillowfort flannel sheet sets, regular price $19.99. I used a 50% off Cartwheel offer. Total: $10.00 each! (The kids are crazy for “softy sheets” during winter.)
