Hallmark Cards Now Available at Dollar Tree

I was compensated for this post. It contains affiliate links. I’ll be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking them.

Did you know that the average household buys thirty greeting cards annually? With some fancy cards costing $5.00 each, it can really add up! I personally love to send and receive cards, so I’m always looking for deals.

Starting today, August 30th, Hallmark cards will be available at all of Dollar Tree’s 6,500 locations. Each store will carry Expressions from Hallmark, priced at $1.00 each and Heartline, a Hallmark company, will be 2 for $1.00. With hundreds of new greeting cards to choose from, you can celebrate every moment with friends and family without breaking the bank.

Dollar Tree generously sent me a package filled with samples, and I must say, these cards are wonderful.

There is something for every occasion, from birthdays, to holidays, to weddings, and much more.

Of special interest to the Jewish community, Hallmark’s Tree of Life line will also be sold. Tree of Life showcases our heritage and faith by honoring meaningful holidays and milestones. I’m especially fond of the Hanukkah collection.

In addition to being affordable, it’s very convenient. I already buy most of my party supplies at Dollar Tree, so this will save time. Check out the full line of Hallmark cards available here

Julia Salazar: The Fake Jewish Candidate

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has inspired another dimwit to run for office as a Democratic Socialist. Julia Salazar, who is 27-years-old and wants to be a New York State Senator, seems to be a carbon copy of Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, especially when it comes to lying. Her wildest claims involve being Jewish—both in practice and in heritage.

Unfortunately for Ms. Salazar, multiple sources have come forward to set the record straight, catching her in numerous outright lies and distortions about her background, her family, and her faith.

Here is a small sample:

“…in her early 20s, while attending Columbia University, she served as president of Columbia Right to Life, the campus’ leading anti-abortion group; became heavily involved in the right-leaning Christians United for Israel; and appeared on the online show of Glenn Beck, as a participant in a student training program sponsored by CUFI. One acquaintance who knew Salazar during her time as a CUFI activist said that she wasn’t shy about her Christian faith, dropping the occasional ‘praise Jesus’ into casual conversation.”

Within the space of only two years, Salazar had completely changed politically and began presenting herself as a left-wing Jew, an anti-Zionist, and Pro-BDS.

She claims to have had a Reform conversion in 2012, yet no Rabbi will confirm it, no conversion ceremony ever took place, and she has no conversion certificate—all of which is standard for any legit conversion.

With her present affiliation to Judaism proven sketchy at best, she then claimed to be of Sephardic heritage, on her Father’s side. There’s only one problem: her own brother denied it, stating: “Nobody in our immediate family is Jewish.”

So she didn’t grow up Jewish, she didn’t practice Judaism as a young adult, and now, when it’s ever-so-convenient to be Jewish while running in New York State, she’s magically Jewish!

And, if that wasn’t enough, she even lied about being an immigrant, during an interview with a Socialist magazine. “My family immigrated to the U.S. from Colombia when I was a baby,” was the claim.

But she was born in Miami

No matter how you slice it, Julia Salazar is a complete fraud who is unfit to serve for any public office. Even those who would give her a pass on religion have to admit that she outright lied about her place of birth. All of this was done to fake an identity, pandering to the many Jews and Latinos who will vote in the upcoming election.

It demonstrates a complete lack of ethics and integrity, proving that she has no real position on any issue and will say/do/or become anyone or anything to be elected. This is the worst sort of opportunist, out to enrich only herself, at the public expense.

Pumpkin Pasta (Delicious Vegetarian Entree)

Last night, we were invited to have dinner with a couple that’s recently moved to the area. The husband is Australian, the wife is American, and they are super nice folks. They hosted at their house, which is 100% organic and vegetarian. Pasta, salad, and bread were on the menu. Everything was good, especially the entree. When I asked about the recipe, I discovered that it was created by Trader Joe’s, the food was from Trader Joe’s and the only place they shop is at Trader Joe’s! (I can’t imagine shopping at just one store, but that’s me.)

I haven’t been to Trader Joe’s in a loooooooong time and I don’t recall ever trying one of their recipes. Their prices are high and the location is out of the way, but after enjoying such a nice meal, I’m reconsidering.

This is an excellent pasta with a surprise ingredient—pumpkin. Sounds weird, tasted great; don’t be afraid to try it. Yes, it has cheese and cream, which can be a diet buster, but the occasional treat is ok.

To make pumpkin pasta, you will need:

  • 1-lb. box Bow Tie pasta, cooked
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 Tbs. olive oil
  • 4 Tsp. sage, dried
  • 1 Tbs. rosemary, dried
  • 2 cans pumpkin
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • Salt/pepper
  • Fresh parsley (small handful)

Cook garlic, onion, sage, and rosemary in olive oil over medium heat. Add pumpkin, cream, and cheese. Stir well to mix, then add the pasta. Add salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle with parsley. Makes 4 servings.

If you don’t like Bow Ties, feel free to substitute another noodle, so long as it’s hearty. The sauce is too much for Angel Hair. This was a lovely dairy meal that I’d eat again anytime.

Anyone have an unusual pumpkin recipe to share?
