Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!
Here in New England, the snow, ice, and artic chill is dragging on, but this couponer isn’t deterred. By shopping the sales, using coupons, and always keeping an eye out for unexpected markdowns, I found lots of goodies. My favorite deals of the week were $0.49 turkey and a $0.99 bath towel.
CVS:
Colgate Optic White toothpaste, on sale $3.00. I used a $2.50 CVS coupon from the in-store machine stacked with a $0.50 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free! (If you’re looking for a whitening paste that actually works, try this. I love it.)
Rite Aid:
2 GE light bulbs, on sale $3.99 each. I used 2 $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $5.98, plus $6.00 in UP Rewards.
Target:
Circo 4-piece nursery set, clearance price $11.98. (What a deal! The normal price is $70.00. I’m not really sure why it was so cheap. Regardless, it’s super cute.)
2 Jennie-O Ground turkey, regular price $2.99. There were $2.00 markdown stickers on each, and I used a $1.00/2 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $0.49 for each 1-Lb package!
Maybelline mascara, details here. Total: $0.99 each!
J.C. Penney:
Penny’s isn’t on my shopping list, unless it’s an amazing deal. I heard about a $10.00 mobile coupon offer at Free Stuff Times and jumped on it. (The offer ended almost as abruptly as it began, but I was just quick enough!)
After browsing the store for an hour, I selected a Royal Velvet bath towel, regular price $10.99. After the mobile coupon, I paid only $0.99 out of pocket. The towel is soft and seems to be good quality. Quite a steal.
Shaw’s:
The plan was to stock up on 3-day sale items, but everything I wanted was gone. I ended up leaving with rain checks and a gallon of discounted milk. Total: $1.00.
Did you find any freebies? Everyone is welcome to share.
Plz explain how you can eat just milk and turkey? Do you not buy groceries? When I see couponers post their shopping trips it confuses me.
Definitely, I buy groceries. Super Savings Saturday is a weekly post where I share my BEST deals of the week, not every item I buy. (I’d list every single item, but I’m worried it would be too long/boring for readers.) Because I’ve built up a large stockpile over the years, I can be choosy about what I buy now. If you’re starting from scratch, my list would look weird. Once you build up a stock, it seems normal to buy 5 random things for pennies or free. Does that make more sense?
I really got some great deals at Target this week too- they had 5 off of 20 if you buy meats- then I cruised the whole meat case and found several items on sale PLUS the $2 off coupons. I am on a low carb diet, so meat eating gets pricey fast.. was glad to see those deals:)
Way to go, Super Shopper! I want to try low-carb, is it hard to stick with?
I lost 10 lbs in a month on low-carb. It was fine for the month but I wouldn’t do it longer than that. Plus it got expensive trying to be creative with produce and meats!
Not only is it expensive, the carb cravings drive me insane.
I was thinking of you and your motivation this weekend. I was given a gift card to Target a while back and this seemed to be the Saturday to use it. Before we left, I downloaded Cartwheel which I had no idea really how to use – so that made for a cute pre-Target lunch date – figuring it out and then talking about the savings we would have! 🙂 I also had some Sunday newspaper coupons and we printed some Target coupons as well. All said and done – 3 bags full of food, candy and clothing with a bonus savings of $12. So thank you! I honestly would not have done any of that without reading your blog.
Also, I did sign up for the Panera deal you previously spoke about. I agree, the noodle bowl was nice but I don’t think I would buy it for $8. I am glad I got to try it for $3.
Thanks again!
I am so excited to hear about your Target trip! Using Cartwheel for the first time is big—can be very confusing and scary. You did a fantastic job and should be very, very proud of yourself. I promise that the more you coupon, the easier it gets.
Panera is good, but tends to be overpriced. I hope you got the free coffee and pastry, too. Getting deals/freebies can become an exciting new lifestyle.
