Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!
I found many good deals and freebies this week on food, drinks, and a cheap hair cut. Rite Aid has discontinued their UP Reward program and Video Values coupons which is so disappointing! I’ve used those successfully for years and it’s going to be hard to make the change. Personally, I doubt it will last. A lot of couponers are flooding them with complaints already. I have many stores to shop at locally, so it doesn’t effect me terribly, but not fun for anyone.
Walmart:
3 Rotisserie chickens, marked down to $3.24 each. Total: $9.72! (Regular price is $4.95 each.)
French bread, marked down to $0.39! (Regular price is $0.99 each.)
In the evening, Walmart marks down many baked goods and prepared meats. I’ve found 9:00 pm is a great time to shop if you’re looking for deals. Everything I bought was less than a day old and tasted fine.
Market Basket:
4 Poland Spring waters, rain check price $0.99 each. I used 2 $0.75/2 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.63 each! (I like to keep bottled water in the car. This saves me from having to buy overpriced drinks on the go.)
CVS:
I went to CVS looking for the free Meta Bar and a 30% off bag sale. The bag was in stock, but the bars were all gone. Luckily, my store was nice enough to substitute another bar.
Orange reusable bag & 30% off CVS brand items, free with in-store coupon.
Trash bags, regular price $8.79. I used the 30% off coupon. Total: $6.15! (Not the best price ever, but we really needed trash bags, so I bought them anyway.)
Zone peanut butter bar, regular price $1.87. The store adjusted it to $1.49 and let me use the $1.49 Meta Bar coupon. Total: Free!
Great Clips:
After CVS, I stopped by Shaw’s. The deals I wanted were out and I left with a rain check. Next door, there’s a Great Clips salon that was advertising hair cuts for only $5.99. Since I really needed one, I decided to try it. I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially for such a low price, but I’m happy to report it was fine. Anyone who likes a simple one-length cut or very minimal layering should be happy. (Don’t expect miracles, however.) The lady who cut my hair was super nice and I was done in only 15 minutes—love that!
Did you use any coupons?
Thanks for the tip on Walmart discounting food. I’ll have to check if ours does that as well if I’m ever near it at about 9 p.m.
I also went to CVS and got the bag. I got a box of tissues and a little bottle of dishwashing liquid for 30% off. Not wonderful prices but it got me the bag for free, which I didn’t even need since I have tons of those. Why is it that the word “FREE” makes me covet things that I don’t need? lol. My store’s regular (and my favorite) cashier wasn’t in that day, there was a newbie. My store was also out of the Meta bar and I didn’t want to overwhelm her by asking if I could substitute another bar (she was already confused by that bag sale) so I let it go.
We love Great Clips! $5.99 is a really good sale. The cheapest we get them here is $6.99 or $7.99 but they’re were sporadic. I started buying their prepaid cards a couple of years ago when they sell them. You load a card with $9.99 haircuts, basically (regular price in my neck of the woods is $14.99). The card doesn’t expire, can be used at any Great Clips and when you use it, you only have to leave a tip. With teen boys who no longer want me cutting their hair, I like the option of getting them each a card so they can get it cut whenever they want. My Great Clips also gives us a free haircut after the 10th we’ve gotten (they track it with the home phone number) and I like their online check-in so we don’t wait too long in line anymore (our Greg Clips is close to the high school so it can get busy).
As far as coupons, I used BOGO coupons for Flatout breads on a Publix BOGO sale of the Flatout Artisan breads so I got 4 packs of 6 “rolls” each for free. I also scored 7 boxes of Lucky Charms for about $2.00 at Walgreens (after coupons and redemption of Register Rewards and Balance Reward points) and each box has a BOGO coupon printed on the back so I’ll wait for a Publix or Winn-Dixie BOGO sale to get 14 more boxes for free (the coupons expire in June 2016). I also used several other printable and digital coupons as well as sent for 5 rebates which got me items for free. It was a good week 🙂
Ok, I’m obsessed with anything “free” as well! Seriously, I must have 20 free reusable bags but I always get more. Love your tips on Great Clips prepaid cards. I will have to check that out. The deals you got were awesome! No publix here in New England, but my sister in FL loves to shop at Publix. Thanks so much for sharing.
