Keeping my Chihuahuas happy and healthy has always been my number one priority. That includes providing tons of love, regular vet care, an active lifestyle, clean water, and quality food.
When I shop for pet food, it must meet rigid standards and provide the nutrition Oscar and Charlie need. I also want a product that uses actual food instead of fillers, by-products, artificial flavors/colors, chemicals, or preservatives. Recently, I discovered Wellness® TruFood® while shopping at PetSmart®.
Slow-baked in small batches, TruFood has 70% more raw protein than typical dry dog food. The newest member of the Wellness pet food line of products, it’s artfully blended with whole-prey protein, grain-free fiber, antioxidants, and probiotics. You can see why it’s called Living Nutrition™.
There are amazing superfoods in every bite that come from the farm, field, and sea like yogurt, kale, beets, berries, flaxseed, lentils, chickpeas, and Charlie’s all-time favorite, pumpkin!
For over 100 years, Wellness has been creating food for pets and I’m especially impressed that they care about small breeds. Chihuahuas are known for having high metabolisms and unique health issues, so I love being able to buy a food that’s made just for them. Both of mine have been through multiple surgeries, and I’m trying to prevent future problems if at all possible! TruFood helps maintain a healthy weight, immune system, and digestive system as well as joints, skin, and coat.
TruFood is available for cats and dogs, and it comes in wet and dry varieties, plus treats. You can buy it at PetSmart’s website and also connect with them on social media.

For me, #TruLoveIs the love my Chihuahuas and I share every single day. I truly cant imagine my life without them—-something most pet parents feel! You can show what it means to you by posting a picture of your fur baby, using hashtag #TruLoveIs.
All dog food is filled with chemicals and the byproducts of animals that we don’t want to eat. If you really want your dogs to eat healthy feed them what you eat. My dogs get cooked chicken rice carrots green beans and pumpkin.
I’ve made homemade food for my dogs before, and I think it’s a great option for those who like to cook and have the time. Most often, mine eat dry food which is safe if you’re buying a healthy brand.
