My Experience with MakeUp Eraser

Many of you will recall when I posted about MakeUp Eraser back in November. They were offering free samples and I was very excited to see if the product lived up to the hype.

In case you missed the original post, I’ll summarize:

“Is it possible to remove makeup without any soap or cleanser? The MakeUp Eraser claims to work with just water and a cloth—nothing else required, even for waterproof mascara.”

After using it multiple times, I am disappointed and can not recommend it.

Right out of the package, it indeed worked as promised and I was amazed! Everything, even eye makeup, came off easily, with no tugging and no cleanser. By the third use, however, I noticed a change. The eraser seemed to not work as well and the fabric fibers were already getting frayed.

Since the eraser is supposed to last 3-5 years, this is simply unacceptable!

Basically, the more the eraser is washed—and I washed mine, by hand, after every single use so it wouldn’t get gross and grimy—the less effective it became. There’s no possible way it could withstand 1,000 machine washes like the website claims.

I’ve read other reviews on Instagram that are mixed. Some ladies suggest simply wetting and wringing it dry after using and machine washing it weekly. Personally, I have no idea how anyone could do that when the cloth is super dirty after a single use, especially if you wear foundation and mascara which I do.

The concept is excellent; unfortunately, it doesn’t deliver. Of course, it may just be my experience, or that my sample was defective, but I don’t think so. At a cost of $20.00, it’s not expensive, but I wouldn’t advise anyone to buy it. It doesn’t perform any better than a soft washcloth would. I also feel it’s too unsanitary.

Sorry to say, but the MakeUp Eraser is mostly gimmick. You can cross this one off your beauty list. I’m sticking with a gentle cleanser, water, and a fresh washcloth each night.

If anyone else received and tried the free sample, please share your experience.

My grandmother always said that if it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true. Guess this is more proof that she was right.

Nice to see a blogger that cares about more than an affiliate fee. I am disgusted by most bloggers (not you). They will sell the worst garbage just to make money. They treat readers like a cash register and just don’t care. I’d rather see a negative review than more of the same stupid lies.

For the record, I was never an affiliate for them, but I understand what you mean. My integrity and the trust of my readers is what means the most to me, not a few bucks. I truly consider all of my readers to be friends and I would never take advantage of them. I do share products that I like and have sponsored posts, however I will NEVER endorse anything I don’t personally use and enjoy.

So glad you reviewed this, I was going to order one for my teen daughter and your honest review gave me the heads up.
