Super Savings Saturday – 2/28/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This week was full of more cold weather, but NO snow! After dealing with a storm almost every weekend for the past 2 months, it sure is a relief. I am literally counting down the days until spring.

On the frugal front, I continue to shop the sales and use coupons. This allows me to build up my stockpile at a very minimal cost, and sometimes it’s even free. I didn’t make a lot of stops, but found many good items like cheap snacks, veggies, and meat!

Shaw’s:

The majority of my deals were found here. The snacks are already gone, yet the veggies remain (amazing how that happens, huh?)

6 Quaker Pop Chips, on sale $1.00. I used 3 $1.00/2 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.50 each!  (I’m really not crazy about these, but my guy loves the sweet chili.)

4 Everyday Essential veggies, on sale $1.00. I used 2 $1.00/2 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.50 each!   (I try to always keep frozen veggies in the freezer for last minute dinners.)

Season chicken legs, on sale $4.08 with a $2.00 mark down coupon. Total: $2.08!

Thin sliced Rib Eye steaks, on sale $9.36 with a $3.00 mark down coupon. Total: $6.36!

Starbucks:

On Wednesday morning, I used a coupon for a free breakfast sandwich. I created my own option with egg and turkey bacon on an English muffin. Everything on the menu was covered in cheese and I definitely didn’t want anything heavy/greasy so early. The sandwich was tasty, and I always love a freebie, but it’s not worth $3.75!

Staples:

Green reusable bag, free with coupon.

Walgreens:

2 butterball turkey bacon, on sale $1.29. I used 2 $0.75 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.54 each!

    Happy Purim!
I went a little extra grocery shopping today and was able to save $23. I had a $3 off meat, free pretzels and $8 off $50. When the cashier rang the first 2 coupons it took my total to $48, so I wasn’t going to hand over the $8 off coupon. Instead I asked for a brief moment so I could grab 2 not needed candy bars but the cashier stopped me and said I could apply the $8 off $50 since my original total (before the 2 coupons) was over $50. Hot diggity! After I thanked her and told her she was awesome, I gave you a thank you too – and she didn’t even look at me oddly 🙂 She handed over my receipt/coupons for next time and there was a $5 off $5 and I can get another $2 off just for taking a 2 minute online survey of the store.
    Have a great week!

Reading comments like these make me so happy. Isn’t it a fun surprise when cashiers are coupon friendly? You got so many good deals and the prices are fantastic! The free pretzels are my favorite. Very impressed. Hope you are enjoying a happy Purim, too.
