Super Savings Saturday – 4/11/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

Most of my deals came from Shaw’s this week. I stopped into Walgreens, in search of cheap markers and gummy bears, but found everything gone. Rite Aid was also a bummer. (On the positive side, my stockpile is so full, it really isn’t a problem.) I intended to shop Target as well, but couldn’t find the time—early next week for sure.

CVS:

Reese’s single candy bar, regular price $0.99. I used a $0.75 in-store coupon. Total: $0.24!  (A very hungry bear ate this before I could snap a pic.)

Shaw’s:

2 Pineapples, on sale $1.77 each.

2 De Boles Pasta, regular price $2.09. I used 2 $1.00 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $2.18, plus a $2.00 rebate!

2 Tabasco, on sale $1.00. I used 2 $0.50 manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: Free!

Clorox bleach, on sale $1.00. Total: $1.00, plus a $0.50 rebate!

2 Bananas, sale price $0.29/lb. Total: $0.23, plus a $0.25 rebate!

2 Mt. Olive pickles, on sale $2.50. I used $0.75 manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $1.00 each!

And, my best freebie of all, 6 boxes of Horizon Mac ‘n Cheese. I used a rain check, Buy 3, get 3 free, stacked with 3 BOGO coupons. Total: 6 boxes free!

I love using the Checkout 51 rebates. They always have fresh food included that is hard to find coupons for. It’s a nice addition to my frugal shopping strategies.

How many coupons did you use this week?

Super Savings…Monday?

This week’s edition of Super Savings Saturday was delayed because yours truly got food poisoning on Passover! Needless to say, it’s been a difficult few days around here. The culprit turned out to be hard boiled eggs. I’m always careful about food safety/handling, so it’s a mystery how it happened. Regardless, I’m just very glad it’s over now. I think it will be a looooooooong time before I can even look at an egg, let alone eat one.

Most of my deals were found at Target. It tends to be hit or miss, but sometimes I stumble on a bunch at once. I also found some nice mark downs at Hannaford. All 3 drugstores were a complete wash. By consistently couponing every single week, I’m able to stock up for very little and it’s ok if one week is off.

Target:

4 Up & Up sponges, regular price $1.04. I used a $3.00/4 Target Cleaning Supplies coupon. Total: $0.29 each!

2 Gold ‘N Plump chickens, sale price $4.50 with $2.00 markdown coupons. Total: $2.50 each!  (My first time buying this brand and it was great. Very mild, tasty meat. I’d definitely buy them in the future.)

3 M&M candy eggs, on sale $1.00. I used a $2.00/3 manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $0.33 each!

2 Starburst Juicy Fruit gum, regular price $1.00. I used 2 $1.00 Target coupons. Total: Free!

2 Magnesium citrate oral solution, regular price $0.99 each. I used 2 $1.00 Target Digestive Aid coupons. Total: Free!

Hannaford:

2 packages of ground beef, marked down to $2.49/Lb, plus $0.50 and $0.75 store coupons. Total: $3.89!  (I love it when I stumble upon deals like this. There were 6 additional packages and I would’ve bought them all, but another lady needed them more.)

2 heads of cauliflower, marked down to $1.25 each. Total: $2.50!

Super Savings Saturday – 3/28/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

This week’s shopping was a little out of my norm—I only shopped at two stores and skipped the drugstores completely. I didn’t have the time or ambition to hit my regular route, due to dealing with chronic health problems, insomnia, and a mid-week MRI on my brain. (For those who’ve never had an MRI, all I can say is “Yikes!” It was such a horrible, scary experience for me! Luckily, the test didn’t find anything, but the doctors still don’t know what’s wrong with me.)

In addition to that craziness, I signed up for a 3-part series on organic gardening at my local library. I’ve attended one class so far, and it was super! (After the series is finished, I hope to blog more about it.) The teacher has been farming for over 50 years and I’m learning quite a bit from him and the other attendees. Best of all, it’s completely free.

Even though my shopping was condensed, I still found many good deals, especially on frozen fish and veggies. (Contrary to popular belief, I do actually buy food, not just treats and health/beauty freebies. Hopefully, this will show how I stock up and at what price.)

Shaws:

10 Bird’s Eye steamed veggies, on sale $1.99 plus BOGO. I used 5 $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.50 each!

4 bags of tilapia, on sale $3.99. Total: $15.96!  (These are usually $9.99 each, so it was huge savings. I love having frozen fish on hand for busy nights.)

2 Cheeze-It crackers, on sale $2.50. I used 2 $0.75 Manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $1.00 each!

Wal-Mart:

2 Playtex bottles, details here. Total: $0.47 each!

Candy Land game, on sale $4.77. I used a $3.00 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $1.77!

Chutes and Ladders game, on sale $4.77. I used a $3.00 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $1.77!

2 Blue Bunny Star Bars, clearance price $2.00.  I used 2 $0.75 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $1.25 each!

Dial Miracle Oil body wash, regular price $3.97. I used a free product coupon. Total: Free!

Super Savings Saturday – 3/21

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

I started the week off on a high note, with a free cone at Dairy Queen. The lines were long and the cones were small, but free is free, right? I love soft swirl!

There were many good freebies and cheapies to be found at the drugstores and a grocery store. My only strikeout was Target. I was in search of 5 different cartwheel deals and every single item was gone! I hate it when that happens, but such is life. Couponing is a marathon, not a sprint, and some deals just don’t work out.

Shaw’s:

2 Skippy peanut butter, on sale $1.99. I used 2 $0.50 Manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $0.99 each!

4 Barilla entrées, on sale $2.50. I used 4 $0.75 Manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $1.00 each!   (These make my stomach turn, but my guy loves them—go figure.)

CVS:

I stopped in on Thursday, looking for a one-day offer for free cotton balls. Even though it was only 10:00AM, the store was completely cleared out. That was disappointing, but the others deals made up for it.

2 Crest Pro-Health toothpastes, on sale $3.00. I used 2 $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $4.00, plus $4.00 ECB!

4 Starburst jelly beans, on sale $0.99, plus BOGO. I used a $2.00/3 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free!

Rite Aid:

Always liners, details here. Total: Free!

Ensure Active shakes, clearance price $4.15. I used a $2.00 Video Values coupon stacked with a $3.00 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free!
