Super Savings Saturday – 2/14

a3

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday! Are you having a happy Valentine’s Day? I sure hope so! Around here, it’s been low key. We’re staying in and hanging out watching TV. I made heart-shaped sugar cookies to celebrate, but otherwise, no festivities.

This week was filled with more snow and shopping (this seems to be a pattern lately). I made a bunch of stops and came out of each store with very few items, but overall there were plenty of freebies and cheapies to be had.

CVS:

I’d read a tip on numerous coupon forums that the in-store machine was offering free M&M’s. I scanned my card, but received nothing.

Walgreens:

Soothe eye drops, regular price $11.99.

Mountain Dew Kickstart, sale price $1.00 plus a $1.00 Register Reward.

$0.09 clearance gelt (filler item)

I used a $3.00 manufacturer’s coupon and a $10.00 Register reward. Total: $0.09!  (The eye drops weren’t part of any deal, but I really needed them.)

Shaw’s:

Gallon of organic fat free milk, marked down to $1.50.  (The regular price is $5.99!)

Wal-Mart:

Sara Lee deli meat, details here. Total: $0.99!

Market Basket:

I found all kinds of marked down produce like berries, squash, and peppers. also, oat bread was on sale for $0.99. I misplaced my receipt, but the total was around $5.00 for everything.

The funniest part was seeing the “regular” price on the reduced strawberries. $15.84/LB? Who in their right mind would pay more for berries than the best cut of steak? Just crazy!

Super Savings Saturday – 2/7

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

Here in New England, the snow, ice, and artic chill is dragging on, but this couponer isn’t deterred. By shopping the sales, using coupons, and always keeping an eye out for unexpected markdowns, I found lots of goodies. My favorite deals of the week were $0.49 turkey and a $0.99 bath towel.

CVS:

Colgate Optic White toothpaste, on sale $3.00. I used a $2.50 CVS coupon from the in-store machine stacked with a $0.50 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free!  (If you’re looking for a whitening paste that actually works, try this. I love it.)

Rite Aid:

2 GE light bulbs, on sale $3.99 each. I used 2 $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $5.98, plus $6.00 in UP Rewards.

Target:

Circo 4-piece nursery set, clearance price $11.98.  (What a deal! The normal price is $70.00. I’m not really sure why it was so cheap. Regardless, it’s super cute.)

2 Jennie-O Ground turkey, regular price $2.99. There were $2.00 markdown stickers on each, and I used a $1.00/2 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $0.49 for each 1-Lb package!

Maybelline mascara, details here. Total: $0.99 each!

J.C. Penney:

Penny’s isn’t on my shopping list, unless it’s an amazing deal. I heard about a $10.00 mobile coupon offer at Free Stuff Times and jumped on it. (The offer ended almost as abruptly as it began, but I was just quick enough!)

After browsing the store for an hour, I selected a Royal Velvet bath towel, regular price $10.99. After the mobile coupon, I paid only $0.99 out of pocket. The towel is soft and seems to be good quality. Quite a steal.

Shaw’s:

The plan was to stock up on 3-day sale items, but everything I wanted was gone. I ended up leaving with rain checks and a gallon of discounted milk. Total: $1.00.

Did you find any freebies? Everyone is welcome to share.

Super Savings Saturday – 1/31

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday.

This week can be summed up in a single word—SNOW! Monday night and all-day Tuesday was a Blizzard. On Wednesday, I was cleaning up and yesterday it was more snow. Plus, another storm is predicted next week. All I can say is yikes! I’m experiencing total winter fatigue.

On the shopping front, I went to only 3 stores, but still managed to find lots of goodies. I really do love the coupon lifestyle.

Target:

4 Loreal Advanced hair care stylers (shine spray, volume filler, and color therapy), 3 on clearance for $2.98, shine spray $1.99. I used 4 $2.00 Manufacturer’s coupons stacked with $1.00/2 Target coupons. Total: $0.93, plus a $5.00 Target gift card!  (Don’t you love being paid to buy awesome stuff!)

Avent bottles, 3-pack, clearance price $7.48. (Huge discount off the regular price. I’m putting together a baby shower basket and these work perfectly.)

a4

Walgreens:

I did 5 transactions for maximum savings.

3 Velveeta Cheesy Melts, on sale $2.00. I bought each one separately. Total: $6.00, plus 3 $2.00 Register Rewards. I paid with points and it cost zero out of pocket.

KY Ultragel, on sale $6.00 and 2 Hanukkah gelt, clearance $0.07 each. Total: $6.14, I used the $6.00 Register Rewards and paid $0.14, plus a $6.00 Register Reward.

General Health Chews, on sale $10.00. Total: $10.00, I rolled the $6.00 Register reward and paid $4.00 cash, plus I received a $10.00 Reward back.

a4

Shaw’s:

There was a great promo deal on snacks and soda: Buy 1 Orville Redenbacher popcorn and get another box and 2 bottles of soda for free. Total for all 4 items: $2.99!

4 salsas, on sale $2.49 plus BOGO. I used 2 $0.75/2 manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.49 each!

Super Savings Saturday – 1/24/15

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

It was a great week of shopping, and I’m really glad I went early because today is a snowstorm here in New England. (Is anyone else as sick of the unrelenting cold/stormy weather? Yuck!)

The drug stores deals have been quite slim, but I didn’t let that deter me. By cherry-picking the best sales and using coupons whenever possible, I was able to score free food, pens, medicine, and much more. Plus, my favorite deal of all—cheap pajamas!

Shaw’s:

2 Cinnamon Toast cereals, on sale $1.88. I used 2 $0.50 Manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $0.88 each!   (Hungry Bear’s obsession. I keep encouraging him to eat healthy cereal, but he’s not convinced.)

Wal-Mart:

2 Finish dish tabs, sale price $2.96. I used 2 $2.15 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.81 each!

Orange, details here. Total: Free!

Rite Aid:

Max Freeze, rain check price $5.00 with a $5.00 Up Reward. Total: Free!

Bic pens, rain check price $1.00. I used a $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: Free!

Target:

I was so excited to find this deal. Normally, they cost $24.99 a pair. I was able to buy 4 pairs of pajamas for the price of one! If you haven’t tried Gilligan & O’Malley brand, it’s super. The 4th pair is a pink plaid and not pictured, because it’s in the wash.

4 Pajama sets, on sale $7.48 plus 20% off coupon. Total: $5.98 each!

Panera:

After all that shopping, I sure had worked up an appetite. I headed over to Panera and picked up free hazelnut coffee, a free cinnamon roll, and a Broth Bowl. (You can sign up for the same rewards by registering at Panera and watching videos.)

The Broth Bowl was a chicken & soba noodle combo. I doubt I’d pay full price, but it was a decent lunch for under $5.00, and it’s always fun to find treats!
