Super Savings Saturday – 10/25

a1

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday!

The past week was a really difficult one for me. Here in New England, we had torrential rain 3 days in a row. Combine that with a leaking roof and I was in misery! On Wednesday night, I was awake until 4:00 AM, cleaning up a dripping hallway ceiling. Needless to say, this has caused tons of grief and my sleep is completely messed up. I’m trying my best to get back on track, but it’s a challenge for sure.

In addition to that, I had 2 cooking failures: a new recipe for bean soup and a very bad roasted chicken. I was trying to multi-task, which never goes well. I was much too distracted and over tired. (Does anything ever go right with a lack of sleep?!) Hungry Bear took pity on me and we went out for dinner both nights—something we rarely do.

The only thing that went well was couponing. (Seriously, going to Rite Aid was a high point.) Also, I was able to use Checkout 51 for the very first time! Because my phone isn’t great, I could never get the App to load properly. I reset the phone and now it’s working. If you too have been on the fence, definitely try it. I love Checkout 51 and plan to use it regularly.

Super Savings Saturday – 10/18

It’s Super, it’s Saturday, and it’s time for savings! This week, I found tons of good stuff. I shopped at 3 stores and most of the deals were at Shaw’s. (I love their double coupon policy and 3-day sales the most.) I skipped the drugstores, except for a Rite Aid rain check. Not a single store in my area had the free Puracyn foot wash and I checked 4!

Target:

GE light bulbs, on sale $3.11 and similar to a coupon stack I did previously. Total: $0.11!   (I use these in my bathroom vanity.)

Black flip flops, clearance price $1.75.   (I thought I would use these next summer but it’s been over 70 degrees here in New England most of the week! These are cute and comfy for the price.)

2 Pull Ups, details here. Total: $4.74!

Shaw’s:

Carolina rice pilaf, on sale $1.00. I used a $0.50 Manufacturer’s coupon (doubled). Total: Free!

2 Everyday Essential chips, on sale 3/$5.00. I used a $2.00/2 store coupon. Total: $0.67 each!   (Hungry Bear begs for chips, so I was happy to surprise him with a little treat.)

2 Everyday Essential pretzels, on sale 3/$5.00. I used a $2.50/2 store coupon. Total: $0.67 each!   (My fav snack!)

2 Everyday Essential Free & Clear detergent, on sale $1.99. I used 2 $1.00 store coupons. Total: $0.99 each!   (Don’t overlook deals on good generics. This stuff cleans as well as Purex or All and it’s much more affordable.)

2 Classico pasta sauce, on sale 2/$3.00. I used a $0.75/2 Manufacturer’s coupon (doubled). Total: $1.50 for 2!

2 Everyday Essential turkey deli meat, regular price $2.99. These had $1.50 mark down stickers. Total: $3.00 for 2!   (Great to have on hand for quick lunches. I only buy when it’s reduced.)

Market Basket:

I found a great deal on cold rotisserie chicken that costs less than half the price of the hot chickens. There were 4 packs of split breasts for $1.29/Lb and I grabbed all of them. If you’d like to buy some, I found them in the cold case across from the milk.

I shredded all of the meat and it filled a gallon-sized Ziploc. It was so convenient to have to hand for dinners and lunches throughout the week!

Pack # 1:  $2.65

Pack # 2:  $2.33

Pack # 3:  $1.79

Pack # 4:  $1.63

I don’t regularly find this chicken deal, but it’s great when I do. (Not only the price, but getting to take a cooking break, too).

Welcome to another edition of Super Savings Saturday—a weekly post where I feature my best deals.

I’ve certainly found my shares of goodies lately. On Wednesday, I snacked on free pizza and on Friday, I started my day with free coffee. I shopped at 3 stores and left with tons of stuff! The only store I missed was Target, because I ran out of time. That’s ok, I’ll stop in soon (nothing I wanted, including the cheap Pull Ups, has expired yet). My favorite deal of the week has to be the $0.29 eggs!

Walgreens:

4 Advil PM, on sale $1.00. I used 4 $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: Free!

Market Basket:

2 Lipton tea, regular price $1.14. I used 2 $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: $0.14 each!

4 packs of split chicken breast, on sale $0.99/Lb. Total: $8.59.   (This was an unadvertised Manager’s Special. I love finding unexpected markdowns, especially on expensive items like meat.)

2 Arm & Hammer laundry detergents, on sale $2.00. I used a $2.00/2 Manufacturer’s coupon. Total: $1.00 each!   (My stock up price! I would’ve bought more if I had additional coupons.)

The following items were part of a Mega Sale (Buy 10 items, get $5.00 off):

Super Savings Saturday – 10/4

a1

It’s a very special edition of Super Savings Saturday since today was Yom Kippur! This is posting much later than usual, but the holiday had to take precedence. I hope everyone had an easy fast and was sealed for another year!

This week, I only shopped at Shaw’s and Rite Aid since I was busy with holiday prep and going to Boston for the Tylenol TweetUp. Even though I didn’t visit many stores, I still found some great deals by cherry-picking and using coupons.

Shaws:

10 boxes of Mom’s Best Cereal, on sale $1.00. Total: $10.00!    (This was a super cheap cereal deal that didn’t even require coupons. I got 3 different types and stocked the cabinet for Hungry Bear’s breakfast. He loves these.)

2 quarts of Hood milk, marked down to $0.50. Total: $1.00!  (I love how I found cheap milk to pair with the cereal.)

Everyday Essential milk container, marked down to $0.25.

2 Coffee Mate Bliss creamers, on sale $2.50. I used 2 $0.75 Manufacturer’s coupons (doubled). Total: $1.00 each!

2 Everyday Essential garlic breads, on sale $1.00. I used a $1.50/2 Store coupon. Total: $0.50 for 2 loaves!  (Frozen bread is great to keep in the freezer for hectic nights.)

Rite Aid:

All of these items were rain checks. Don’t pass up deals if the shelves are empty! By getting rain checks, you can stock up later.

3 Lysol citrus cleaning wipes, on sale $2.50 each, with a $7.00 Up Reward. Total: $0.50 for 3!  (Since these are usually $3.00 each, it was an amazing deal.)

2 Glade warmers, on sale $1.00. I used 2 $1.00 Manufacturer’s coupons. Total: Free!
