Would You Eat Salmon Candy?

If you’ve never heard of salmon candy, you’re not alone. I was introduced to this concept through The Nosher. At first glance, it sounded really gross and odd, but after learning about it, I think it might be good.

To clarify, it’s not a candy like a confection, it’s more like a jerky. (I had previously heard of fish jerky, although I’ve never eaten it.) According to the article, “Salmon candy is made by smoking salmon with brown sugar, giving it a sweet and smoky flavor profile.”

Sounds pretty good, right?

It’s already popular in the Pacific Northwest, and will be coming to the East Coast via Stop & Shop grocery stores. If I can find it in the Boston area, I’m definitely going to pick up a package or two. I love trying new snacks!
